The College Library started in the year 1931, the year in which the College Dupleix was reopened after a gap of 23
year, with 500 Books, mostly donated by eminent local individuals and teachers. Chandernagore College Library
system consists of one Central Library and 16 Seminar Libraries (i.e. Departmental Libraries for Honours
Departments). The Central Library is situated at the Ground Floor of Administrative Building of the College with an
area of 6500 sq. ft. Both open and closed access systems have been maintained simultaneously. Apart from the
circulation of books, the library also provides a reading room for students and teachers, reprographic service (as and
when required), access to e-learning resources and career guidance corner consisting of preparatory books related to
competitive examinations.

SERVICES

 User Awareness Programme: At the beginning of every academic session, awareness programmes for first
semester students are organized to get them acquainted with the library collection, rules and regulations and
the various services available.
 Reading Room service: The library has one Reading Room for students and a separate cubicle for teachers.
Students may borrow more than one book at a time against identity card. Both reference books and text
books are issued at the Reading Room.

  Library Automation: The college authority has taken appropriate steps to computerize the library using
KOHA Software. Information relating to four thousand books have already been incorporated in the
database. The work of data entry relating to the remaining books will commence as soon as funds are made
available.

The library subscribes to NLIST-INFLIBNET service which offers access to more than 97,000 e-books and 6,000 e-
Journals to students and faculty.

5 LAN-connected desktops have been installed in the library with Wi-Fi and internet facilities through LAN. These
computers are used to access the various library resources to which the College has subscribed.

The Library uses web-centric Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) through which the database of e-library of
Chandernagore College can be accessed using the following link: http://34.70.201.32:91 24 hours everyday.
The above link provides seamless access to various learning resources and repositories including digital catalogue,
open access e-books/ e-Journals/ Theses & dissertations, etc.

Sub: Work Order for Digital Classification, Cataloguing and allied work for Library Books

Sir,
With reference to your Quotation No. WBEIDC/WIL/QTN/cC/Lo1/2019-20, dated 11-09-
2019, I am placing the Work Order for Digital Classification, Cataloguing and allied work for
21,739 (Twenty one thousand seven hundred thirty nine) books of the library of
Chandernagore College at the rate of Rs. 23 per book. Therefore, the total monitory value of
your work is of Rs. 4,99,997/- (Rupees four lakh ninety nine thousand nine hundred and
ninety seven only). In view of this I request you to begin the work from 17th August, 2020.

I would like to draw your attention to the following conditions.

1. The whole work is to be completed within 40 days from the date of beginning of the work.
2. After completion of the work you are requested to train the Librarian and other library
staff of our college of the mode of operation of the related software.
3 The payment for the work will be made in two installments. Rs. 1,25,0oo/- (Rupees One
lakh twenty five thousand only) will be paid to you in the first week of September, 2020, as
the first installment and the balance amount of Rs. 3.74,997/- (Rupees Three lakh seventy
four thousand nine hundred and ninety seven only) will be made after successful
functioning of the software for 15 days after completion of your work.
When the college will reopen and run in its full swing, if any problem arises related to

your work, one person from your end should attend the library within 48 hours of the
lodging of the complain. This service is to be provided for one year after successful
completion of your work and no payment will be made in this regard.

I, therefore, request you to note the above mentioned conditions and begin the work.
