               Making Borongan’s Salivating Salukara
                                                            September 16,
                                    2024
Dear Ms. Pandy Pastrana,
Having read your remarks and reaction to our vlog really makes us
glad and proud. To know that there are many of you who are truly
interested and who truly appreciate all our content really makes us more
inspired and driven to work harder to better our on-line craft.
Please take careful note of these little suggestions we are adding
here to make sure that your finished salukara is truly as good as we
assured you it would be.
Please make sure that your rice is softened by soaking in water
overnight before grinding. Doing this will give you a softer, finer powder.
In mixing your batter, use thick coconut milk (first extract only). It is also
better to sweeten it with brown sugar rather than with the white refined
one. For best results, leaven it with tuba (local coconut wine) rather than
with commercially available leaveners.
Make sure your batter is mixed well before pan frying. In frying, we
suggest you use mantika hin baboy instead of over-the-counter butter or
cooking oil. Also, occasionally brush your crepe with this mantika using
crushed banana branch instead of the usual cooking brush. This will give
your salukara that unique blend of aroma and flavor that is truly
irresistible.
Please follow these simple steps in cooking salukara the traditional
way. We assure you if you do, your finished product will be exactly what
both locals and visitors crave for in Borongan City.
                                                    Gratefully yours,
                                                    Lorie Arago & Partners
