EXPERIMENT NO.:01 (A)

AIM: To verify Kirchhoff’s Current Law.

APPARATUS REQUIRED:

1. KCL Trainer Kit

2. Patch Cords
3. Digital Multimeters

THEORY:

Kirchhoff’s Current Law: According to KCL, “The algebraic sum of the various current meeting
at a node is zero”
ΣI=0
Or
“Current entering the node should be equal to current leaving the node”.
At any node,
Σ I entering = Σ I leaving

Fig. 1

PROCEDURE:

1. Connect the ammeter across point C & D to find out current I 1.

2. Again connecting the ammeter across point G & H to find out current I 2.
3. To find out the whole current i.e. I flowing through the main circuit by connecting the
ammeter across points X & Y as shown in fig. 2. Hence by Kirchhoff’s current law.
I= I1+I2

OBSERVATION TABLE:

S. No. Vs I1 I2 I I1+ I2

CALCULATION:

By Kirchhoff’s Current Law:

I = I1+I2

RESULT:……………………………………………………………………………………………
……………………………………………………………………………………………………….

PRECAUTIONS:

1. There should not be loose and wrong connection in the circuit.

2. Before making or breaking the circuit, supply must be switched off.

EXPERIMENT NO.:01 (B)

AIM: To verify Kirchhoff’s Voltage Law.

APPARATUS REQUIRED:

1. KVL Trainer Kit

2. Patch Cords
3. Digital Multimeters

THEORY:

Kirchhoff’s Voltage Law: According to KVL, “the algebraic sum of all the voltages around any
closed path should be equal to zero”.
ΣV=0

Or
“In any closed path the total voltage rise should be equal to total voltage drop”.

Σ Voltage rise = Σ Voltage drop

CIRCUIT DIAGRAM:

Fig. 1

PROCEDURE:

1. Connect the voltmeters as per diagram.

2. Connect supply to input terminals.
3. Switch ON the power supply.
