Astrological causes for the appearance of monthly cycle in women:
The biological phenomenon of the monthly course in women occurs in a cycle by the intersection of the
Moon and Mars in transit over their radical charts. The Moon stands for blood which is a liquid while
Mars stands for fire. It is this fire that makes the blood overflow on certain days in the month. In
Sanskrit the cycle mentioned above is called Ritu or season. When the Moon in her transit comes to a
non-upachaya house (1,2,4,5,7,8,9,12 houses) counted from the Lagna in a woman’s natal chart and is
aspected by or conjoined with Mars,” periods” set in. These periods are the cause of pregnancy. The
ritukala or the period of fertility of the ovum is said to be 1 nights after bath on the 4th day. In this
matter you have to exclude young children, old, sickly and barren women. The impregnation or nisheka
should take place on a night when the Moon has gone to an Upachaya House with respect to a woman’s
natal Lagna and the Moon should be aspected by Jupiter. The ascendant for the sexual union should also
be a benefic sign or one with a benefic in it. If the male too has his Sun and Venus strong and in their
own rashis or amsas in transit and if the night of union is even in that season, the event would lead to
the birth of a male child.
Yogas that cause effectiveness of the union:
The Sun, Moon, Jupiter and Venus being posited in their own houses;
Or they are in their own amsas;
Or they are in the Lagna being aspected by Mars;
Or a strong Jupiter is in Lagna, or the 5th house or the 9th house on a good week day ruled by a good
Nakshatra.
Yogas causing male child:
The Sun and Jupiter are in odd signs;
The lords of the 1st and 5th in conjunction or mutual aspect or being in mutual reception;
Saturn being strong, posited in an odd house except the Lagna and not aspected by or conjoined with
any planet;
All the male planets occupying the 6th or the 11th;
The 5th lord being strong;
All major planets The Sun, Moon, Jupiter as well as the Lagna occupying odd houses or amsas;
Note: 1.The Yogas referred here must be present at the time of impregnation
2. They can be applied while examining the 5th Bhava too
Yogas causing female child:
The Moon, Venus and Mars in even signs;
Moon and Venus in conjunction either in the 5th house or 10th house or own houses or own amsas.
Rahu being in Lagna and aspected by Moon;
The Moon being in Lagna and aspected by Rahu;
Venus being in the hora of the Moon;
Venus being in the Kendra;
The Lagna, Sun, Moon and Jupiter in even signs and amsas;
Yogas causing birth of twins:
Mercury occupying the Lagna that is a dual sign;
When Mercury is in the 10th
When Mercury aspects a dual Lagna;
The Sun should be in a quadruped sign and the rest being strong in dual signs;
The lord of the Lagna conjoined with Rahu in a sign belonging to Saturn and should be aspected by
Saturn and Mars;

The Moon and Venus should be in even signs or in dual amsas, Mercury in Lagna, and Mars and Jupiter
in odd signs;
The Lords of the 1st and 2nd houses are together in a sign and are aspected by Rahu;
The Lagna and the Moon in an even sign being aspected by a male planet;
The Lagna is occupied by Rahu, its lord in the 10th along with a malefic and four planets in their own or
exaltation signs;
The Sun and Jupiter in Gemini and Sagittarius and aspected by Mercury;
Venus, Moon and Mars in Pisces or Virgo aspected by Mercury;
If Rahu is in ascendant, and aspected by Mars and Saturn while lord of ascendant is conjunct with Gulik.
Either lord of 5th and/or Jupiter in the 5th in conjunction with a female planet indicates birth of twins – a
boy and a girl.
Sex of twins:
The sex of the twins should be determined from the nature of the Rasi or amsa occuied by
Mercury. If both Rasi and Navamsa are odd signs then both will be males; If one is odd and other is even
the twins would be male and female; If both Rasi and amsa are even both would be females;
Yogas for the birth of Eunuchs:
The Moon and Sun should aspect each other for a day birth;
Mercury and Saturn should aspect each other for a night birth;
Mars aspecting the Sun in an even sign;
Lagna and Moon being in odd signs aspected by Mars;
Moon in an even sign, Mercury in an odd sign aspected by Mars;
Venus, Lagna and Moon being in odd Amsas;
Time of Delivery of a child:
If there is a query as to when a particular woman would deliver a child, then note the stronger of the
Lagna or Moon; Note the Dwadasamsa sign the stronger of the Lagna or Moon would fall. Count the
Number of signs from that Dwadasamsa sign where the Lagna or Moon would fall. The sign when
transited by the Moon the woman would deliver a child. For example the Lagna is strong. Taurus is the
Lagna at the time of query or examination of the horoscope and is the 9th Dwadasamsa. Counting nine
signs from Taurus the Dwadasamsa Lagna would be Capricorn sign. Counting again nine signs from
Capricorn we would arrive at Virgo Sign. This sign when transited by Moon would be the date of
delivery.
Or find out the Navamsa of Moon at the time of query or examination. When the Moon goes in transit
to the 7th Rasi from the Navamsa Rasi the delivery may take place. If the Moon at the time of query was
in Gemini, the 7th Navamsa for Gemini would be Aries; Hence the 7th sign from Aries i.e. Libra when
transited by the Moon the delivery would take place.
Yogas causing Freak Births:
1. Child with multiple head or arms:
Mercury in the 5th or 9th house and other planets weak, the child will have two heads, four feet and four
hands;
2. Dumb child:
The Moon being in Taurus and the malefics i.e. the sun, Mars and Saturn posited severally or jointly in
the last portion of Cancer, Scorpio or Pisces, the child born would be dumb; In case Moon is aspected by
benefic, the child would get speech after a long time;
If in a nativity Jupiter is debilitated, and the Moon be in the Sandhi between two signs or amsas the child
born would be either dumb or imbecile
If Lord of 2nd and Jupiter are together in the 12th house the native would be dumb. If the sign occupied
happens to be own house exaltation etc. evil effects would be minimized.

If lord of 2nd and Jupiter are in 6/8/12 houses aspected by benefics, the native would start talking late in
life.
3. Child with teeth at birth:
If Mars and Saturn are in the signs or amsas owned by Mercury, the child will have teeth at birth;
4. Hunch backed child:
If Moon in the Lagna identical with Cancer and be aspected by Saturn and Mars the child would be
hunch backed or dwarfish In appearance.
5. Lame child:
If the Lagna at Adana (Impregnation) be Pisces and is aspected by the Moon, Mars and Saturn, the child
will be lame or deformed feet.
6. Dwarf Child:
If the Sun, Moon and Saturn should aspect the rising sign which is the last amsa of Capricorn, the child
would be dwarf; When the Lagna is the same having the above aspect and when the rising decanate is
occupied by Mars, the child would be headless; If the decanate is second it will be armless; and if the
decanate is third it will be devoid of feet;
7. Blind child:
If Lagna happens to be Leo and is occupied by Sun and Moon and aspected by Mars and Saturn, the child
will be born blind.
If Leo Lagna is aspected by both benefics and malefics, the child would be blear eyed.
If the Sun or the Moon is posited in the 12th house and aspected by malefics the right or the left eye as
the case may be will suffer.
However if these Yogas are aspected by benefics there will be tempering effect.
