Nadia wanted to go to the party.

She’s friendly and she

enjoys meeting people. As Nadia looked at the invitation,
part of her kept saying, “I won’t know anyone there! How
can I remember all those new names?” Her problem is
unusual, though. Remembering is a common problem for
many of us. Nadia is an international student at an
American university. Therefore, for her, it’s even harder
to recall unfamiliar foreign names. What can Nadia like
her do? Here are some tips from memory experts :
1. Decide to remember. Making an effort can help a lot.
2. Listen carefully when you hear someone’s name
for the first time. It’s important to pay attention.
3. Try to repeat the name many times. Calling the
person by name more than once helps you fix the
name in your mind.
4. Write the name down. Writing is a common
memory aid.
