Egyptian art in the modern era, and in the end, we described some of
their clothes and homes.

1
Introduction:

Egyptian art is one of the oldest and most important forms of art in
human history. This art began in the Pharaonic periods and has
continued to reflect Egypt’s rich culture and history through various
ages. Ancient Egyptian art is characterized by symbolism, precision,
and attention to detail, reflecting a blend of religious beliefs and
social customs.

2
Types of Egyptian Art:
1. Sculpture:
• Sculpture in ancient Egypt was primarily used to immortalize the
images of pharaohs and gods, with the goal of portraying power and
the ability to achieve immortality. Egyptian artists used limestone,
granite, and bronze to create statues.

• Some of the most famous Egyptian sculptures include the Great

Sphinx of Giza and the Statue of Tutankhamun. These statues were
often displayed in temples and tombs, believed to play a role in
securing the pharaoh’s afterlife.

2.painting:
• Painting in ancient Egypt was used to document daily life and
religious rituals in temples and tombs. Artists painted on walls using
natural colors such as red and blue, and the artworks often followed a
strict style, with people depicted in straight postures and side profiles.

• The scenes in these paintings varied from daily life (such as farming
and hunting) to religious rituals related to the gods and the afterlife.

3
Types of Egyptian Art:
3. Architecture:
• The architectural art in ancient Egypt was centered around building
massive temples and pyramids. Pyramids, like the Great Pyramid of Giza,
were considered one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
Temples, such as the Temple of Karnak and Temple of Abu Simbel, were
built to honor gods and preserve religious heritage.

• Temples were characterized by complex construction and rich interior

decorations with carvings and paintings representing gods and rulers.

4. Decorative Art:
• Decorative arts were a significant aspect of ancient Egyptian art, with
intricate designs adorning temples, tombs, and furniture. Egyptians
favored geometric patterns and religious symbols, such as the Ankh
symbol (the symbol of life).

• In jewelry, Egyptians created bracelets, rings, necklaces, and crowns

from gold and gemstones. Jewelry was a symbol of wealth and social
status and was also used in religious rituals.
4
Religious Beliefs and Their Influence on Art:
Religion played a major role in Egyptian art, as most works were
related to gods and spiritual beliefs. Gods such as Ra, Amun, and
Isis were depicted in many artworks, and art was used as a medium
to communicate with the gods and seek protection in the afterlife.
Pharaohs were often depicted in formal postures to reinforce their
authority, and statues were considered representations of eternal
life.

5
Egyptian Art in Modern Times:

After the Islamic conquest of Egypt and the passage of different

eras, Egyptian art was influenced by the various cultures that
passed through the country. However, modern Egyptian art
retained some ancient influences, particularly in architecture and
traditional crafts such as handicrafts and traditional painting. In
the contemporary era, Egyptian art includes many Western and
modern styles, reflecting the aspirations of the Egyptian people
and the political and social transformations.

the availability of local materials, and they typically consisted of

roofs were flat and used as additional spaces for sleeping or other
activities.
