FGD - Coaches Group Discussion Topic Guide

Introduction
 Introduce yourself and your role.
 Explain the purpose of the discussion (learning about experiences with Sports for Protection
training, football practices, positive/negative situations, skills gained, usefulness of methodology,
etc.).
 Mention confidentiality and voluntary participation.
 Seek agreement from the group to participate.
A: Initial Motivation and Overall Satisfaction
1. Personal Background:
o Could each of you briefly introduce yourselves (age, gender, background, experience in
sports/protection)?
2. Joining the Football/Handball/Traditional Games Activities:
o When did you all first join the football/handball/traditional games activities? What were
your initial thoughts about joining? What did you hope to gain from participating in the
project activities?
Prompts: How did you find out about the project? Why did you decide to join?
3. Expectations from the Training of Trainers (ToT):
o What were your expectations of the ToT? Were your expectations met after the training?
Why or why not?
Prompts: What skills or knowledge did you think it would offer?
4. Information Provided:
o Did all coaches, regardless of gender identity, receive the same information and
understanding about the project?
Prompts: Were there any differences in how information was provided to male or female
coaches? Who provided the information? Was it clear?
5. Overall Experience:
o How did you find the ToT and your role as coaches?
Prompts: What did you like or dislike? How could the activities be improved?
6. Participation in Decision-Making:
o Were any of you involved in deciding how the project’s activities were conducted or asked
for feedback?
7. Comfort in Participation:
o Did you ever feel uncomfortable with participating in any of the activities?
Prompts: Did any activities go against cultural beliefs or personal values?
8. Gender and Disability-Based Challenges in Participation:
o Was there any specific barriers based on gender, social status or disabilities to joining or
continuing participation in the activities (football/handball/traditional games)?
Prompts: Did family, cultural traditions, financial challenges, or physical limitations make it
hard for you to join?
