The Cancun Underwater Museum or Museo Subacuático de Arte (M.U.S.A.) in Mexico prides
itself as being the biggest underwater museum in the world. MUSA is an innovative project
designed to counteract the effects of climate change on our oceans and reef systems.
Located near the island of Isla Mujeres and the coast of Punta Nizuc in Cancún off the coast
of Mexico, the underwater museum features over 500 permanent life-size sculptures created
by British sculptor Jason deCaires Taylor. It was formally opened to the public on November
26, 2010.
The museum is divided into two galleries. Salon Machones is eight metres deep and suitable
for both divers and snorkelers. Salon Nizuc is four metres deep and only permitted for
snorkelling. Cancún Marine Park is one of the most visited stretches of water in the world. It

Four sentences have been removed from the text. Choose from the
sentences (A -D) to fill in each gap (37 to 40).
For each of the question, shade the correct answer (A-D) on your answer

Talent Search
This year the class of Form 1 Smart decided to do a project which would be
educational and fun at the same time. We came up with the idea of making a
talent show. 37 She gave us a task which was to find our talent. Some
of us already had some. But others discovered their hidden talents. The first thing
that we needed to do was write our script. It was pretty hard for some of us and
some even decided to use that time to discuss about other stuff. Because of
that the show was almost cancelled. 38
After the June Holiday we all came back motivated as ever and started
working very hard. We started to do proper rehearsals and each one was better
than the other. Then came the day of the final rehearsal. We all brought our
stuff and costumes. And we started to work. At the beginning nobody came to
watch but then people from activity groups came to assist in the rehearsals.
They thought we were great. 39 A few days later came the D-day and
it was a success. More than sixty people attended our show including teachers,
parents and other children. Personally, I felt great. 40 All in all, we had
an amazing experience.
A At the end of the show, the school headmaster came to us and told
us it was such an amazing performance.
B Our teacher, Madam Maslina advised us and not to give up.
C The compliments boosted our confidence.
D First our English teacher introduced us to the idea and everyone
accepted it.

I am glad to be of help. I think it is good that you pick up a sport because
you are an outdoor person. You will love the adrenalin rush. Maybe you can
consider learning to skateboard. It is quite easy to learn. You also would not
need a lot of equipment, just safety gear and a skateboard. I can teach you
how to skateboard. I don’t think you will enjoy learning to play an instrument.

Skateboarding
Skateboarding is the 6th most popular urban sports in the world. Over half of all American
skaters live in California, USA making it one of the most popular areas in the world to be a
skater. The first skateboard was called the “Roller Derby Skateboard” and went onto the
market in 1959. It was totally unlike today’s skateboards, with wheels made of clay! With 50
years of development, the modern board is now built with several layers of wood compressed
together for strength, and the wheels are made from polyurethane. The first public outdoor
skate park appeared in Florida in 1976 and was built from concrete.
When it first gained its popularity, skateboarding was initially called “sidewalk surfing”. This was
because skaters would replicate the techniques of surfers, but on a paved surface.
Skateboarding is a dangerous sport. Each year, more than 100,000 skaters are injured from
skateboarding incidents. This is mostly due to skaters wearing improper protective gear. The
most common broken bone from a skateboarding injury is the wrist, but many other bones can
be broken in accidents. In 2011, there were a total of 30 fatalities in the USA from
skateboarding.
