FOREWORD
For close to 30 years of her existence, the Corps with more than 23,000
workforce all over her formations nationwide has considered it expedient to have a
standard sanitary policy to guide her environmental management. The expression of
affinity for wellbeing of staff by any establishment can manifest in the type of
policies put in place.

Health issues picked from work place account for a larger part of general health
challenges recorded in an organization. Therefore the Corps cannot continue to
over look the negative implication of non-availability of sanitary policy, hence need
to roll out a time tested policy for all formations.

The desire for the document was borne out of passion for the welfare of staff and
the resolve to create a conducive healthy environment for the Corps' workforce. A
healthy environment will always produce a productive workforce.

The decision of the Management to engage the services of professional cleaners to

attend to the toilets in the headquarters was a manifestation of the seriousness
attached to creating a healthy environment for the Corps.

This visionary action of the management was aimed at guiding and guarding the
staff against avoidable illnesses and diseases due to filthy environment either
generated or created.

In view of this, I see the accomplishment of this sanitary policy document as a

value adding effort towards building a healthy environment for the workforce.

I wish to admonish all staff to adhere to the rudiments and dictate of the
documents as a policy not implemented is a mere academic exercise in futility.

Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi, MFR, mni, NPoM

Corps Marshal.
INTRODUCTION

Sanitary policy is a document that provides guidance on essential environmental

health standard required for health care in any organization/ establishment.

Sanitary is the act of keeping things clean and healthy, especially by providing
sewage system and portable water supply or issues relating to health measures for
the protection of healthy /conducive atmosphere for promoting health, free from
dirt, germs and hazards.

This is in line with goal six (6) of the United Nations sustainable development goals
hinged on safe management of water and sanitation
The essence of the sanitary policy is to ensure that sanitary standards are
established and maintained by all parties involved and that all the cleaning
procedures used in offices and surroundings are in line with public health
stipulation and requirements.

Any corporate organization that has the welfare of her staff at heart will always
treat the issues of sanitization as important.
It is a platform to good health, whose absence affects productivity through man
hour loss. A healthy workforce is a productive workforce.
