1. 疑問詞（question words）How 輿一些形容詞 (adjectives)、副詞 (adverbs)、限定詞
(determiners)或介詞 (prepositions) 等一起搭配使用時, 會有特殊的意義和作用。
2. 疑問詞 How 配上其他字詞的特殊用法：
How + 其他詞 作用
用以詢問數量 (quantity):
How + 限定詞 many 或 much How many 詢問可數名詞 (countable nouns) 的數量
How much 詢問不可數名詞(uncountable nouns) 的數量
How + 限定詞 much How much 的另一用法，是用以詢問價格。
用以詢問程度，例如：
How old 詢問年齡
How + 形容詞/副詞，例如 old, far, How far 詢問距離
tall, big, heavy 或 deep How tall 詢問高度
How fast 詢問速度
How heavy 詢問重量
How deep 詢問深度
How often 詢問頻率

(1) How much is the new dress?
（一般來說, 以 How much 來詢問價格時, 疑問句的結構是 : 「How much + is / are + 主語?」或「How
much + do / does + 主語 + cost ?。因此, 我們也可以說 How much does the new dress cost? )
(2) How tall is Yao Ming?
(我們用「How + 形容詞」來提問程度。在這個句子中, How tall 的意思是「有多高」, 用以詢問姚明的身高。)
(3) How long have you studied at this school?
(How long 除了可用來詢問長度外, 亦可用來詢問一段時間的長短。在這個句子中, How long 的意思是有多久」, 用以
詢問別人在這所學校學習了多久。）
(4) How fast can Ivan run?
(How 後有時候也會跟副詞, 本句中的 fast 是副詞, How fast 的意思是「有多快」, 用以詢問 Ivan 跑步的速度。)
