Silas Goodwind, born Samantha Tomlin, is a nonbinary D&D/renfaire afficianto who

makes a pact with a strange individual to bring their game to life. This stranger,
known as Lux, is more than willing to provide. Growing up, their father wasn't in
the picture for very long but instilled a sense of right and wrong. Silas grew up
tall and strong, chopping wood was a usual chore as her mother had moved them to a
quiet hollow outside of their New England township.

Lux is from a parallel reality where Magic is real, they have obtained artifacts,
and offered them as a gift to their new friend Silas.

When the artifacts begin to emit a palpable energy, its clear that something has
changed.

Sam is part of a Dungeons and Dragons group, made up of Sorcerer, Rogue, Barbarian,
and Druid. They are usually the DM with a knack for story telling, but their real
drive is to play their Paladin, Silas.

When Lux offers them the gift of a very heavy but gilded hammer, things begin to
change. Silas simply cannot lift this hammer, but cherishes it, often studying it
from their desk chair as it since in the corner of their bedroom. Silas, being
committed to their character's ideals of justice begins to practice with it,
building a small amount of muscle mass as a result.

Silas's friends; Mario the Sorcerer, Devlin the Rogue, Baxter the Barbarian, and
Frieta-Khan the Druid begin to come across objects of their own.

Mario finds a relic that looks like a brass 8 pointed star on a necklace.

Devlin finds a pair of boots that seem worn due to the material but fit him like a
glove.

Baxter discovers a pair of wide weighted bracelets, almost like training gear.

Frieta-Khan doesn't find an object but instead her mother presents her with a
simple brass ring she found on the way home that day. She begins to notice
something different about her walk to work - crows are following here, gathering in
trees outside her house, workplace, and bustop.

When they meet again for Dungeons and Dragons the following saturday, they lock the
door and pull out their artifacts, studying and theorizing. These items match their
character classes. The group urges Mario to try and cast something but nothing
really happens at first, however when they close their eyes, words begin to appear
to them. With eyes locked to an unlit candle, they grip their necklace and focus,
in an instant, a spark travels from their eye to the candle, igniting it before
everyone.

Taken back and realizing what is happening, a hush falls over the group. There is a
knock at the door, a smiling Lux. "Do you love it?!" The group of 20 somethings
take a step back as the human-looking Lux effortless changes into faun-like Satyr.
"Go on, tell us!" Mario begins to speak but Silas steps forward - "who are you?"

"I'm Lux and I'm no one."

Silas holds up their hammer, not to defend, but to inquire. "Where did these come
from?"

"A different world; I can take them back if you'd like.." Lux presents an empty
resolution.
The group clutches their gifts.

"I didn't think so." Lux confirmed.

"Will people come looking for them?" Baxter asks.

"Not for a long long time, I'm sure of it." Lux insures.

"But they *will* come looking for them." Devlin chimes in.

Not wanting to give a full answer, Lux replies that "Anything is possible.."

Thinking quickly, Baxter stands in front of the only exit while Silas and Frieta-
Khan hold the Satyr's shoulders and shoves them down onto a chair.

Mario, preparing for the worst. "You're going to tell us who and what you are,
where you came from, and what we should be preparing for."

Lux, nervous but calm, "You're just like the last world, you demand and dont
barter, you threaten."

Silas; "We never threatened you, but we know your kind."

Lux; "You know nothing, you know of ideas from fairy tales, you know stories, you
know nothing about Lux."

Devlin; "Then tell us." The group releases Lux from their grasp and they sit down
around the table."

Lux; "Food, give me food and I'll tell you." Mario hands the creature a plate of
pizzarolls.

Lux; "Dumplings!" They begin to consume the meal. Devlin; attemping to warn Lux,
watches in abject horror as they consume scalding hot pizzarolls without a second
thought. Devin; "Doesn't that hurt you?" Lux exhales fire. "Not much does anymore."
Lux scoffs. "I have scars older than your parents."

Lux; "I am from the world next door, some worlds have magic, some dont, there
doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason to it, just chance." they say between hasty
bites. "My dad was a jeweler and helped me develop a keen eye for wares." Lux
points at the bracers. "Those came from a monestary on Red Mountain, they're simple
but neigh unbreakable, I think they called them Obsidian." Licking the sauce from
his fingers. "Thats a focus charm, a ton of nobles and holyfolk own them but only a
handful can really use it." They hold up the hammer like its nothing. "This, if I
remember correctly came from the Falcon's Order, real hardasses." Lux looks at
Devlin; "You found boots didn't you? Dont go around telling people, I'm sure
someone at the Assassin's Guild is running around barefoot right now." Frieta-Khan
chimes in, holding out the ring on their necklac. "Tell us about this." "Thats just
a brass ring I found in the forest, considering how dangerous and weird that forest
is, I wouldn't be surprised if it was enchanted." "Crows have been following me."
Frieta-Khan points to the window, crows peering into the basement. "Huh, maybe they
want the ring?"

Silas; "Why are you here?" Lux finishes their meal. "I'm not very popular back
home, in fact I'm downright hated. People hunted me, I spent a few years as a
slave, concubine, pirate, conscipted foot soldier, thrown off a boat, thrown off a
tower, stole a horse.. where was I going with this?" Silas; "Are you a demon?" Lux;
"Whats a demon?" Silas; "Nevermind. All this is facinating but doesn't explain why
you're here."
Lux; "We all want a chance to start over, right? I had taken a few things on my way
out and figured I could barter for safe haven." Mario; "Look around, this place
isn't remotely magical, what was your plan?" Lux; "Okay, I ran away, I didn't have
a plan, I just didn't want to be used anymore, even if it means hiding in a strange
place for the rest of my days, I refuse to be someone's toy or pet or .. vice."
Devlin; "You can stay on the couch." Lux; "Do you have more pizzarolls?"
