TWO TIMING
Have you ever tried multitasking? Multi-tasking can be very
hard, but sometimes we must pay attention to two things
at once. In this exercise, you must first do a visual task, then
an auditory task, then both tasks at the same time. We often
have to use our visual attention and memory in combination
with our auditory processing skills and memory in order
to effectively participate in school, work, conversations
with friends, as well as do things such as driving. Train your
brain to learn the skills needed in order to be able to intake,
process, and utilize both visual and auditory information at
the same time.

BRIDGING QUESTIONS
In this exercise, you must first do a visual task, then an auditory
task, then both tasks simultaneously. Did you find multi-tasking to
be difficult? If so, what strategies could you use to stay focused on
the tasks?
When driving, we combine visual and auditory skills. We need to
listen to our surroundings (ambulances, beeps, etc.) while using
our visual skills (reading signs, traffic lights) and our memory to get
around. Can you think of other instances where visual and auditory
skills are used at once?
We often have to use our visual attention and memory in
combination with our auditory processing skills to participate
effectively in school, work, and conversations with friends. Did you
find either the auditory or visual tasks easier than the other before
multi-tasking? How did you feel when both were combined?
In our modern world, people are constantly shifting attention
between activities, electronic screens, etc., while also having
conversations with the people around them. When it’s necessary
to multi-task, do you feel that your investment in each activity
decreases?
