Site Description :
Our site is mainly known for cattle slathering and meat selling, but still
had a history of farming.
The site have a built up space of 43% which makes the 57% void space
caused by the dominate character of the sites agriculture space.
The community live and participate on river side farming from long time
ago and continue there work under different urban policy most of them
are not supportive policy .but different regime try to motivate the
riverside farming project like the derg regime in 1960 award, they get
tractor and recently the government support technically.
Site Selection : we selected the site mainly due to:
1. As an urban designer students eye view the site need and lacks
~Proper infrastructure of road and drainage system
~ Standardized housing orientation and Quality
2. Have high informal economy activity
Site location
Site Analysis :- we divided our site analysis in to 4 main groups
1. Density:
-This area contains average of 3000 number of people.
=>having average housing number of 678 per house holders.
=>And mostly consists of people aged above 18
=>have many scattered and slum house densely found in one place.
=>Low vehicle and high pedestrian movement..
2. Economy:
-This site have formal economic activity with non-consistent source of income.
=>And most of the economic activity interlinks with Agricultural activity that is
dominate on the site.
3. History:
-Our site is mainly known for cattle and raw meat distribution.
=>But it is not that much known for the agricultural side of it in which this side of
this site goes way back.
4. Environment:
-Our site have a high amount of pollution in the water and air bodies.
=>Low in vegetation coverage (away from the farming land ).
=>Have slope difference b/n the slummy residential area and the farming land.
=>Have bad drainage system
Based on the above analysis’s we created a SWOT Analysis of the site
Strength:
Have good social interaction
Have raw natural material resources
Have high grown and young working man power
Have high formal activities
Numerous independent activity
Green coverage
Harmonies and collective society
Weakness:
Poor sanitation
Inadequate access
Poor road quality
Labor intense production
Poor structural quality of houses
Narrow road
Opportunity:
Have job opportunity
social interaction can be enhanced more
Have slope of the landscape accelerate the drainage flow
Threat:
Illegal expansion of settlements
Along with the residential neighborhoods, the location features pollution from both liquids and Solids.
→ Inadequate drainage
→ Government and Society's lack of knowledge improper disposal methods.
→ The site has a Chance to become an attractive. Venue if the pollution problem can be resolved.
→ The health of Society is also threatened by this degree of pollution.
