à Students Halls of Residence
The Austrian Academic Exchange Service (ÖAD) will do its best to organize a room for you
although only a limited number of rooms (especially single rooms) are available. ERASMUS and other
official exchange programme students have priority. Students can only be accommodated as long as
rooms are available.
The online application form is available here à
http://www.housing.oead.ac.at/innsbruck_e/anmeldung.asp
The payment of a reservation deposit is compulsory, otherwise you will not be allocated a room.
Please apply as soon as possible! The rooms are allocated "first come first serve".
There are double and single study-rooms; kitchen and bathroom are usually shared. Rooms are
allocated after arrival of both application and deposit. Rooms are let by complete semesters only and
cannot be quit during the semester. If you arrive later or leave earlier, you must pay for the whole
period you applied for. For organizational reasons students coming for the winter semester must also
pay for the month of February (exam period!).
After reserving a room, please observe the times and information sent to you by the students hostel.
Plan your arrival according to these times, if possible, and announce your arrival early enough either
by telephone or e-mail.

à Self-organized Private Accommodation
Renting rooms or apartments on the free market is very difficult and expensive especially when you
wish to rent for less than 12 months and need furnished accommodation. Usually, private contracts
will be contracted for a minimum of one year by law. So it might be very difficult for students who
stay only for one semester to find private accommodation. According to the Tyrolean regional
manager of the Austrian Union of Real Estate a one-room flat costs between € 500 and 600 per
month.
The ÖAD – Austrian Exchange Service does NOT organized private accommodation !!!
