Subject: Petition for Declaration of Nullity of Marriage between John and Mary Due to
Lack of Consent, Force, Abduction and Plotting.
Most Holy Father,
I, John, humbly present this petition for the declaration of nullity (annulment) concerning my
marriage to Mary, which took place on 27 th June 2000 at Mong Phyak the Assumption’s Church.
I present this petition with deep respect and in recognition of the Roman Pontiff’s authority in
matters of marriage within the Catholic Church.
1. Background Information:
Petitioner’s Full Name: John
Petitioner’s Address: New York
Petitioner’s Contact Information:
Respondent’s Full Name: Mary
Respondent’s Address: Mong Phyak
Date of Marriage: 27th June 2000.
Location of Marriage: Mong Phyak
Officiating Priest: Fr. Peter Win Khin
2. Grounds for Annulment:
I respectfully ask that the marriage be declared null on the following grounds:
Lack of full consent on the part of John.
A plotting of Mary to get me because of loving me.
The two side of parents forced me to marriage her.
Abduction to Marriage with her.
The above grounds have led me to believe that the marriage was invalid from the beginning, as
required by Canon Law (Can. 1095, 1089, 1101, 1102, 1103 etc.).
3. Narrative Summary of the Marriage:
I provide the following brief history of our relationship and marriage to support this petition:
We began our relationship on 1st May 2000.
We married on 27th June 2000 in Mong Phyak.
I was born as Catholic family in Keng Tung, Myanmar, on 1 st February 1980. In 2000, at
the age of 20, we reached at the refugee camp because of civil war. On 1 st May I met
Mary and got Marriage on 27 th June 2000 because Mary had loved me and persuaded to
marriage her. One of the evening Mary plotted to get marriage me, she made me drunk
and slept with her and the two side of parents forced to marriage as a Catholic tradition.
But I did not love and did not have the consent to marriage her. That is why after one
month, I went to New York for working. From there, after three year I found Magret and
falling in love with each other and got marriage according to the civil law. Now, I have
three children. We and Magret’s parents also want be celebrated to the Catholic rite. It
cannot be repair it.
Therefore, I kindly petition you, to dissolve my marriage with Mary, in favor of faith of
Magret, and the Impediments of marriage. So that Magret and I can celebrate a valid
Marriage, as pe the Catholic teaching.
4. Evidence and Witnesses:
To support this petition, I have gathered the following evidence:
Documentary Evidence: Baptism, Confirmation and marriage certificate of John and
Mary.
Witnesses: Two witnesses of the refugee camp.
5. Request for Consideration:
I humbly request that Your Holiness consider this petition and that the Apostolic Tribunal of the
Roman Rota declare that no valid sacramental marriage ever existed between Mary and me. I
seek this declaration to reconcile my situation with the teachings of the Church. I remain your
obedient servant, and I pray for your guidance and blessing in this matter.
Respectfully submitted,

Subject: Recommendation for the Petition of Declaration of Nullity of Marriage for John
Most Holy Father,
I, Fr. Peter Yang, pastor of New York, write this letter to support the petition of John for a
declaration of nullity concerning his marriage to Mary, which took place on 27th June 2000 at
the Assumption’s Church, Mong Phyak. I have known John as a parishioner of this parish since
2000, and he has sought my spiritual counsel in this difficult matter.
1. Overview of the Petition:
John has come to me with a request for assistance in seeking a declaration of nullity of his
marriage to Mary. After careful discussion and discernment, I believe there is merit to his
petition, based on his account of the circumstances surrounding the marriage, including the lack
of free consent, coercion by both families, and other irregularities that, according to him, affected
his ability to freely enter into this sacramental bond.
2. Observations Regarding the Grounds for Annulment:
Lack of Free Consent (Canon 1095): John has shared with me that he felt unable to
give genuine consent to the marriage due to pressures from both families and the
circumstances he found himself in at the time.
Coercion and Plotting (Canon 1089): He has provided a detailed account of how
Mary’s actions, including inducing intoxication and pressure from both sides of the
family, played a role in the forced nature of the marriage. He believes that this situation
deprived him of the freedom required for valid matrimonial consent.
Impact of these Circumstances on John’s Understanding of Marriage: John has
expressed that he did not understand the full implications of the marriage and felt
compelled to comply with the demands placed upon him. This lack of understanding and
coercion, as described, suggest that a true and freely given matrimonial consent was
absent.
3. Support for John’s Current Situation:
John is currently living with his civil wife, Magret, and their three children. He has expressed a
strong desire to have their relationship regularized according to the laws of the Church so that he
can live in a state of grace and continue to raise his children in the faith. Both John and Magret
have demonstrated a sincere commitment to their Catholic beliefs and a desire to fully integrate
their family into the sacramental life of the Church.
4. Request for Consideration:
I respectfully ask the Apostolic Tribunal of the Roman Rota to carefully consider John’s petition
for a declaration of nullity. I believe that a thorough examination of the circumstances
surrounding his marriage to Mary will reveal that a valid sacramental bond never existed
between them due to the lack of free and genuine consent. It is my hope that this process will
allow John to continue to grow in his faith and to pursue a life of sacramental union with Magret,
consistent with the teachings of the Church.
I am available for any further clarification or to offer additional pastoral insight into this matter. I
offer my prayers for Your Holiness and for all those involved in this discernment process.
Respectfully in Christ,
