Let my sample email above represent my main insight regarding the article.
Indeed, Wi-Fi has been widely used around the world. Perhaps it is one of the great
inventions out there, or certainly it is. I do understand and am fond of the idea of
attracting more customers by providing an internet connection for them, as well as the
various information, research, and justifications mentioned in the article. Although, as
someone who believes that "business is the one who runs the world, not the government",
I think there is a much broader and deeper way in which a business can be connected
to the people or its target market.
For instance, in the first email above, a customer complained about the internet
connection at 0527 Café, saying that it was slow. On the other hand, 0527 Café, which
wanted to attract more customers, installed private Wi-Fi, yet they received a complaint
regarding it. Although they have identified that the customer’s device is already
outdated, in this situation, we could assume that the weakest link, which is the outdated
device of the customer, won in a way that she was not able to finish her work report and
that the internet connection that the 0527 Café provided was not helpful.
In conclusion, Wi-Fi (the great invention) as a marketing tool would not be
effective at all as it encounters the weakest link, and so, in a battle between the two, the
weakest link wins.
