2- Practice empathy and appropriate tone in writing a letter of advice.
3- Use structured ideas to compose a well-organized letter of advice.

Pre-requisites  Reading Skills: Students should be able to read and comprehend a letter in English,
identifying key details such as problems, causes, and potential solutions.
Adherence to the Writing
 Writing Skills: Students should have basic writing skills, including sentence .Corner guidelines
construction and paragraph organization.

Vocabulary Knowledge:

 Familiarity with vocabulary related to emotions (e.g., isolated, down, unhappy).

 Knowledge of advice-related expressions (e.g., You should..., How about..., I think


you could...).

Prior Knowledge:

 Awareness of empathy and how to show understanding in communication.


 Experience with structured writing tasks, such as using a graphic organizer or
planning ideas before writing.

Conceptual Understanding:

 Students should understand the importance of tone in writing and how to adjust it
for politeness and empathy.

 Basic understanding of how to provide solutions to a problem in a logical and non-

Task 2: Organizer Completion

 Activity:

1. Provide students with a graphic organizer with three sections:

 The Problem

 The Cause of the Problem

 Possible Solutions

2. Have students fill in the organizer individually using the letter as a


reference.

3. Compare and discuss ideas with a partner.


Writing Tasks Minutes 20 Task 3: Exploring Writing Strategies Tone, empathy, and use of

 Activity:

1. Go through the Writing Corner guidelines as a class.

2. Highlight points such as showing empathy, echoing the problem,


and using appropriate phrases.

3. Practice responding to two example problems from the Writing


Corner in pairs (e.g., "My computer crashed and all my emails were
deleted").

4. Share responses and discuss tone and empathy.

Task 4: Drafting the Letter

 Activity:

1. Students write their letter of advice individually, using the organizer


and Writing Corner as guides.

2. Encourage them to include:

 Restating the problem in their own words.

 Acknowledging feelings.

 Offering helpful, non-judgmental advice.

 Closing with a hopeful note.

Task 5: Peer Review

 Activity:

1. Students exchange letters with a partner for feedback.

2. Evaluate letters using criteria:


 Empathy and tone.

 Clarity of advice.

 Use of appropriate language from the Writing Corner.

3. Partners suggest edits and improvements.

Post-Writing Tasks Minutes 5 Activity:

1. Volunteers read their letters aloud to the class.


2. Post the letters on the board for peer evaluation.
3. Class votes for the most empathetic and well-written letter.
