Project 1 Peppermint spirit BP

Project instruction I: Prepare the given Extemporaneous Preparation by following the


right procedure.

Peppermint spirit BP

Master formula Reduced formula

Ethanol----------------------------------------1000ml

Send 20ml

Reduced formula = Desired quantity = 20ml .

(R.F) Total amount 1000ml = 0.02

* Stock solvent Ethanol = 97%

Dilution formula

C1 V1 = C2 V2

C1 = 97%

V1 = ?

C2 = 90%

V2 = 20ml

N.B= measure and take 18.5 ml of 97% alcohol and add 1.5ml of distited water.

Procedure

1. Ready the material – p.oil, water, Ethanol
Equipment – cylinder, Beaker, Amber, glass (bottle), dropper
2. Tare the bottle
3. Prepare 90% alcohol from 97% alcohol
4. Measure 2ml p.oil and transfer to amber bottle
5. Add 18ml of 90% ethanol in to amber bottle & shake

 Take measured quantity of people and pour to the prescription bottle and rinse
the rest of peppermint oil with amount of ethanol 90% in and mix peppermint
oil and ethanol 90% in bottle
 Add sufficient amount of alcohol 90 make up the volume

Sprits are alcohol or hydro alcoholic solution of volatiles substances and contain 90% of
Alcohol. The high alcoholic contents maintain water – insoluble oils in solutions. If
water is added to a sprit the oil acts separated. Some used as, flavoring agents and
medicinal agents.

Sprit should be kept in well closed container of glass or other suitable materials and
should be stored at temperature not exceeding 25 degree centigrade to reduce loss of
evaporation.

Preparation of compound Bonzoic Acid ointment; BP

(White field Ointment)

Ingredients Master formula

Benzoic Acid; in fine powder-------------------------------------- 60 gram

Emulsifying ointment----------------------------------------------- 910 gram

Mitte: 25 gram

Procedure

Sift the medicaments through separate (180) u sieves. Note that Salicylic Acid is very
irritant to the respiratory tract and precaution should be taken to avoid inhalation. Weigh
the powders after sifting and mix them. Then, place them on an ointment tile and
levigate with two or three times their weight of the base until homogenous. Gradually
incorporate the remaining base.

Preparation of Emulslying Ointment, BP

Procedure

Place ingredients of the base in an evaporating Dish on a water bath and allow melting.
It is most convenient to weigh the liquid paraffin directly in to the Dish and to add the
other ingredients, stir gently to aid melting and mix the ingredients when homogenous
remove from the heat and continue to stir gently until cool.

Project instruction I: Prepare the given Extemporaneous Preparation by following the


right procedure.

Send 20ml

Reduced formula = Desired quantity = 20ml .

(R.F) Total amount 1000ml = 0.02

* Stock solvent Ethanol = 97%

Dilution formula

C1 V1 = C2 V2

C1 = 97%

V1 = ?

C2 = 90%

V2 = 20ml

N.B= measure and take 18.5 ml of 97% alcohol and add 1.5ml of distited water.

Sprits are alcohol or hydro alcoholic solution of volatiles substances and contain 90% of
Alcohol. The high alcoholic contents maintain water – insoluble oils in solutions. If
water is added to a sprit the oil acts separated. Some used as, flavoring agents and
medicinal agents.

Sprit should be kept in well closed container of glass or other suitable materials and
should be stored at temperature not exceeding 25 degree centigrade to reduce loss of
evaporation.

Preparation of compound Bonzoic Acid ointment; BP

(White field Ointment)

Ingredients Master formula

Benzoic Acid; in fine powder-------------------------------------- 60 gram

Salicylic Acid, in fine powder-------------------------------------- 30 gram

Emulsifying ointment----------------------------------------------- 910 gram

Mitte: 25 gram

Procedure

Sift the medicaments through separate (180) u sieves. Note that Salicylic Acid is very
irritant to the respiratory tract and precaution should be taken to avoid inhalation. Weigh
the powders after sifting and mix them. Then, place them on an ointment tile and
levigate with two or three times their weight of the base until homogenous. Gradually
incorporate the remaining base.

Preparation of Emulslying Ointment, BP

White soft paraffin --------------------------------------------- 500 gram

Liquid paraffin ------------------------------------------------- 200 gram

Prepare 25 gram

Procedure

Place ingredients of the base in an evaporating Dish on a water bath and allow melting.
It is most convenient to weigh the liquid paraffin directly in to the Dish and to add the
other ingredients, stir gently to aid melting and mix the ingredients when homogenous
remove from the heat and continue to stir gently until cool.
