Some people presume that children of all ages should take responsibility to
help at home or at work. However, others advocate that after school, children
should be free to relish their lives. In this essay, I will discuss both views and
explain why I choose the second opinion.
On the one hand, there are some explanations that children should have time
to enjoy their life after school time. Firstly, they can develop social skills. For
instance, when children join some public events, they will meet more friends who
have the same hobby as them. Given that children meet a lot of new people, they
can be more self-possessed when standing in front of a crowd. Secondly, children
can improve their physical health. For example, many activities such as football,
basketball, tennis, badminton, and so on can help children evolve in height, keep
fit, and improve their immune systems. Another benefit of these activities is
reducing stress. Moreover, children can be more independent because they can
make decisions themselves.
On the other hand, there are a lot of advantages if children take
responsibility for help at home or at work. First, as their parents are busy with their
work, children can help their parents do household chores. It can knit love in the
family. If every member of the family shares housework together, it can be quickly
completed. Second, children can come into being more responsible and patient. For
example, since there is some work that takes a lot of time to do and there is also a
deadline for it, children need to be persevering to do and complete it before the
deadline. Furthermore, children can learn how to manage time. Providing that
children have to complete work at home and at school, they need to make a
timeline and arrange time reasonably to balance them. In addition, children are
able to take care of themselves when they grow up. For instance, children can do
household chores themselves so they can do it when they live alone. Last but not
least, if their parents have a business, they can help their parents to sell things. It
can help children have experience in making a profit when selling.
To sum up, as mentioned above, it is clear that both of these opinions have
their own advantages but the benefits of the second thought outweigh the first one.
Therefore, children should have responsibilities to help their parents at home or at
work. ( word count: 409)
