Visual Communication
uses visuals to convey information or messages examples are
signs, symbols, imagery, maps, graphs, charts, diagrams,
pictograms, photos, drawing, or illustrations and various forms of
electronic communication. (Emojis, emoticons, and animations)

Types of Communication According to Purpose and Style:
Formal
employs formal language. Examples are lectures, public
talks/speeches, research and project proposals, reports, and
business letters. Its objectives are to inform, to entertain, and to
persuade

Informal
involves personal and ordinary conversations with friends,
family members, and acquaintances. Its purpose is simply to
socialize and enhance relationships.

Intrapersonal
this means talking to oneself. Psychologist call it self
verbalization or self-statement.

Interpersonal
this may occur in dyads or small groups also known as group
communication.

Extended Communication
involves the use of electronic media. It could include tele,
audio, phone conferencing, video conferencing, Skype calls,
and other technological means.

Organizational Communication
comprise individuals who work for the company.
Formal Structure
makes use of four approaches
1. Downward Communication-flows from upper to lower positions
2. Upward Communication
-bottom up in which subordinates send communication to
their superior/bosses
3. Crosswise/Diagonal Communication-employees from different
units or departments working
at various levels communicate
with each other.

Horizontal Communication
is lateral in approach. It takes place among people belonging
to the same level but coming from different departments.

Informal Structure
comes from unofficial channels of message flow. Also
known as "grapevine" messages coming from different
levels of organization. It occurs due to the dissatisfaction
of some employees accompanied by uncertainty, such as
superios playing favorites.
