Abortion. Just the mere mention of it can spark a heated debate.

Abortion, the intentional killing of unborn children, is supported by many

politicians and opposed by many others. Supporters claim that abortion is

simply healthcare, and that a mother should be able to choose what happens

to her baby. In fact, usually at least 1500 abortions happen every day in the US

alone. The Bible says in many verses that abortion is wrong under all

circumstances, and I agree with this, for many other reasons as well.

There are many separate instances where the Bible clearly describes

unborn babies being the same as already-born babies, like in Genesis 25:22

(“the children struggled within her”). God also tells us how he made us in the

womb in Isaiah 44:24 (“I formed thee from the womb”) and in Jeremiah 1:5

(“Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you; before you were born, I

sanctified you; and I ordained you a prophet to the nations”). A more

thought-provoking instance is seen in Genesis 38:27-30. Twin babies were to

be born, and one stuck out his hand from the womb, but then withdrew it.

Did the fetus become a baby when he stuck his hand out, and become a

fetus again when he withdrew it? If we say a baby is a baby at nine months,

how can we not say it is a baby before that point?

Looking elsewhere, doctors of today say a version of the Hippocratic

Oath, and said version leaves out a vital part: “I will give no deadly medicine to

anyone if asked, nor suggest such counsel, and in like manner, I will not give

to a woman [...] an abortion.” Why should doctors not follow this part of the

oath?

The founding fathers of the United States said in the Declaration of

Independence, “all men (all people) are created equal.” If this extends to all

those who are outside the womb, why should it not extend to those inside the

womb? The fetus will become a baby and has an undeniable right to live.

Even those against abortion in general still sometimes support it in

case of rape or incest. This may seem like a case where abortion would be

okay, but think of it from the baby’s perspective; it did nothing deserving of

death, therefore why should it be punished for the sinful deeds of its mother

or father?

Overall, all sources point to the same thing: abortion being wrong.

Regardless, any baby can simply be given up for adoption and given a chance

to live anyway. And no matter what, God will always help people do what is

best for both them and their baby.
