Introduction
The International General Certificate (IGC) qualification
focuses on international standards and management
systems, enabling candidates to effectively discharge
workplace health and safety responsibilities in any
employment sector, in all parts of the world.
The NEBOSH IGC is a recognition for your health and safety
skills and knowledge anywhere in the world and is a first
step towards and international career in health and safety.
It provides a valuable overview, and is a sound basis for
further professional study such as International Diploma level.
Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this training course, delegates should be able to:
• Have a broad understanding and knowledge of health and safety principles and
practice
• Effectively discharge workplace health and safety responsibilities in any
employment sector in any part of the world.
• Identify hazards in a range of workplace environments and recommend suitable
corrective and preventative measurements.
• Assist in the planning, implementation and regular review of a health and safety
policy.
• Investigate accidents and prepare reports recommending suitable corrective and
preventative actions.
• Have a sound basis for progression to the NEBOSH International Diploma

Who should attend?
The course is aimed at Health & Safety Officers and Managers, Safety Representatives
and Safety Engineers, Facilities Managers, Personnel Managers, Middle to Senior
Management with H & S Responsibilities. The NEBOSH International General Certificate
is also suitable for those embarking on a career in health and safety, providing a sound
basis for progression on to the NEBOSH International Diploma. No previous health and
safety knowledge are required.
The syllabus comprises two units that are separately assessed.
1. Unit IG1: Management of Health & Safety – Assessed by QUESTION PAPER

What will I gain by achieving the NEBOSH IGC qualification?
Once you have successfully completed the NEBOSH IGC, you will be certified and can
apply for:
• Technical membership of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (Tech
IOSH)
• Associate Membership of the International Institute of Risk Management, allowing
you to use AIIRSM after your name
Many professionals benefit from achieving the IGC qualification in their job and career;
many go on to a higher level and take the International Diploma and become competent
safety professionals.

ABOUT THE ACCREDITATION BODY
NEBOSH (The National Examination Board in Occupational
Safety and Health) was formed in 1979 as an awarding body with
charitable status. We offer a comprehensive range of globally
recognized, qualifications designed to meet the health, safety and
environmental management needs of all places of work. Courses
leading to NEBOSH qualifications attract around 50,000
