THIS 1S THE NEW MARKED LOOMETTE Another exclusive Loomette feature, de- veloped in the CARTERCRAFT STUDIOS to increase the time saving and convenience of the LOOMETTE. Numbers indicate the row of weaving through which the needle is passed—a de- cided convenience in both plain weaving and in following directions for the fai weaves appearing in “Original LOOMETT. Weaves" and in the new and enlarged “LOOMETTE HANDBOOK”. Lines indicate the intervals at which the horizontal and vertical bars are placed for the weaving of the fourteen various size sections on the LOOMETTE (another ex- clusive LOOMETTE feature). See page 20, “Original LOOMETTE Weaves,’”” DIRECTIONS FOR USING LOOMETTE BARS (Sold Separately) HORIZONTAL BAR Horizontal bar is placed at every three pin interval, counting up on both right and left hand sides of Loomette. Intervals are indicated on marked Loomette. 1, 2: VERTICAL BAR Place horizontal bar at 12 pin interval (half way) on Loomette. Along "A" side of Loomette, beginning at arrow, count five pins to the right. Slip vertical bar over fifth pin and let prong drop between fifth and sixth pin of horizontal bar. The next interval is 8 pins, then 11 pins, etc. (every three pins). The quarter size is at the 11 pin interval. Intervals appear on marked Loomette. — At All Leading Stores — The following articles are among the many which may be made on the LOOMETTE Afghans, scarfs, pillows, sweaters, berets, bags, collar sets, toble scarfs, luncheon sets, bed spreads, coats, dresses and blouses. DIRECTIONS Note markings on LOOMETTE and cor- responding markings on illustrations, i. e. arrow "A", “W"", "BY". With LOOMETTE in “A” position, as in Fig. |, secure thread in groove at arrow corner and pass it to far side around first two pins, then back to “A” side missing one pin and around two pins. Continue threading across LOOMETTE in this manner missing one pin and passing thread around two pins. Do not draw thread tightly, allow natural slack. Note in illustration thread is always pass- ed around two pins. This will be referred to as the “rule of two” which forms the ba- sis for all plain weaving. FIGURE II = °o 9° z m a 4 nT Turn LOOMETTE to “B” position as in Fig. || and continue threading following the “rule of two”. Fig. Ill on next page shows threading with LOOMETTE back in “A” position. Continue with “rule of two” until “W” cor- ner is reached. To measure thread for weaving, pass thread around outside of pins four and one-half (414) times as indicated in Fig. III. Break thread and thread needle. Start weaving at “W” corner, noting illus- tration of Fig. IV. FIGURE III LOOMETTE gta aon In weaving the needle passes the thread around two pins each time, entering the center of loops formed in the threading pro- cess. Fig. IV shows first and last row of weaving. Finish woven square by weaving back the beginning and end threads about 1 inch into square and cut ends close. Fitted garments may be made from the squares by placing them over a selected pat- tern until pattern is covered, join squares, mark along edges for cutting, stitch with two close rows of machine stitching to pre- vent fraying and cut along edges indicated by pattern, as in the case of yardage. FIGURE IV FIGURE V 1 In sewing squares together take care to match corners with like corners. For conven- ience the guide corner is desig- nated in Fig. V. By matching these corners the joining will be neat and even. When squares are joined for desired garment, block be- tween bath towels under even- ly dampened cloth. Use hot iron and press lightly. were sereree ere ess afen, Showing First and Last Rows of Weaving. *Cartercraft Purse Insert Weave knit or crochet a cover, slip into it a Cartercraft Insert.
