SECTION A – { 20 Marks}
Read the extract below, and then answer the following questions:
The New Planet
I had been travelling in my space ship for about a week, when I saw the
most amazing planet. It was as blue as a sparkling summer sky, with
bright green patches of land and huge, pointed mountains. I knew that
I had to land on it straight away! After I had landed, I noticed that the
sky was as blue as it was on my home planet, but everything else
looked different. I had never seen a real tree before, and green stuff
grew out of the ground all over the place.
It was beautiful! Next, I jumped and skipped along as I looked for
another creature to talk to. I saw some things that I guessed were
houses, because they had windows and doors and a roof, like houses
on my planet. Houses here were made of wood and bricks, not metal
and crystals like my house. Then, I met some creatures. They were a bit
funny to look at, because their skin was not green like mine and they
had a nose instead of a beak. I used my space scanner to talk to them.
They seemed a bit scared at first, but I think they were okay once they
knew I was friendly. They told me they were called ‘humans’. They
were very nice and even invited me to eat dinner with them.
Amazingly, their food is actually quite similar to what I eat, although I
normally eat blue carrots instead of orange ones! Eventually, I had to
go. I promised I would visit this wonderful planet again one day!
