Country Report Guidelines

Name___________________________________________________

Country_________________________________________________

Assignment: Students will research a country of the world and

research information about it based on chapters 4 and 5 of our
textbook for a test grade.

1. COVER PAGE: Include a slide with your name, title or maybe a

catchy slogan or phrase. Add a picture(s).

2. GENERAL INFORMATION: Include the capital, currency, flag,

climate zone (temperate, polar, tropical) and their top 3 economic
exports.

3. CULTURE: Give a general overview of the culture. Highlight their

views on family, the main religion, the language(s) spoken, and other
interesting aesthetics that make it unique. Multiple slides can be used.
Include pictures.

4. PLACES TO VISIT: List 3 of the most popular tourist sites, including

the name of the attraction, the city it is located in or near, and a few
interesting facts. Consider such attractions as museums or ones with
historical significance. Include pictures of each one.

5. CLIMATE AND WEATHER TRENDS: Create a climate graph just

like the ones in your textbook. Use data from the internet to explain
what the average year looks like for your chosen country / region. This
can be hand made or graphed online (I can show you the tools)

6. FOOD: Describe the cuisine, listing a few well-known and popular

food dishes, and include a recipe for one dish. You can copy/paste your
recipe onto a slide if you site the source. Include a picture. (If it is a
simple recipe, please make and bring it for everyone to try. It could
also be a junk food / snack food that might be sold at a store!)

7. CURRENT EVENT: Include a current event from your country. Give

a brief description of the event. For example, Venezuela has had a lot
of uprisings and social movements because of their elections. Cite the
source and put the link to the article in the speaker notes.

8. FUN FACTS: Make a page of some fun facts / trivia about your
country. This can be anything. Maybe animals or famous people.

9. Images and videos: You must use a minimum of 8-10 images on

your presentation and if possible, include one short video clip. Your
project is more visually appealing when you have images on each
slide.

10. Resources: Copy and paste all websites used onto a slide titled
“resources.”

11. Oral Presentation

Be prepared to give about a 3-4 minute oral presentation about what
you learned. This does not mean you read word for word on each slide,
but rather explain your slide.
*Taking Notes
As you are working on your project, be sure to identify the source of
the information. Summarize the information on your slides in your own
words (paraphrasing); use quotation marks if you copy the information
exactly. (This rule should apply if you’re copying a great deal of
material or only a phrase.) Make sure that you do not commit
plagiarism on this assignment. Give each slide a descriptive
heading such as culture, food, etc. Note that each topic can have
multiple slides. Don’t cram too much information on one slide and
make your font a minimum of 12. Remember when you are presenting
you want your audience to be able to read your slide. Make your slides
pretty and have fun!
