The NorthCap University Gurugram

Department of Management
& Commerce (DoM&C)
The Department of Management & Commerce at The NorthCap University offers
undergraduate, and doctoral programs in Management and allied disciplines. The
Department has been very cutting-edge in its approach and has kept abreast with the
contemporary trends and advancements in business. As a progressive, student-friendly
institution, the Department has introduced innovative programs that are the need of the
industry and takes several initiatives to ensure student employability. Highly qualified and
experienced faculty using differential pedagogy make learning fun and easy. With the
help of smart classrooms, multimedia aids, learning management systems and blended
learning, the students demonstrate high engagement in the classroom. The emphasis of
the Department is on academic excellence, research, innovation, entrepreneurship and
developing socially responsible managers.

National Case Research Centre (NCRC)
The Centre aims to fulfil the vision of facilitating holistic learning through innovations, academic excellence,
and socially relevant research outcomes. Also, it attempts to develop competent professionals with problem-
solving, analytical skills.
Case Writing Workshop and Competition 2024
The NCRC will be conducting the Case Writing Workshop and Competition on 8 November, 2024. The event
would help participants enrich educational experiences, contribute to academic literature, and provide tools
that prepare future business leaders for complex decision-making scenarios. It would additionally provide the
participants with case-based learning exposure. The participants would get an opportunity to understand the
complexities faced by real businesses, including strategy, operations, leadership, marketing, and more.
Competition Eligibility, Flow & Guidelines
Student Eligibility
All Students pursuing graduation/post-graduation/doctoral research from reputed Institutions across India
and globally are eligible to participate in the NCU Case Writing Workshop and Competition 2024.

A. Case Writing Workshop
A case writing workshop is designed to equip participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to craft
high-quality, pedagogically valuable case studies. The objective of a case writing workshop is not only to
teach participants the mechanics of writing a compelling and engaging case study but also to instil a deeper
understanding of how such cases can be used as a tool to enhance learning and decision-making. The
workshop would simulate real-life business challenges, allowing students to put themselves in the position of
decision makers and developing critical thinking skills to address complex issues.
B. Case Writing Presentation Competition
A case writing competition is an event designed to encourage participants to create compelling, original case
studies that address real-world business, management, or organizational challenges. Participants would be
tasked with crafting cases that present complex problems requiring analysis, critical thinking, and strategic
decision-making. The case writing competition would focus on current trends, such as sustainability, innovation,
digital transformation, or leadership dilemmas, ensuring that the cases are relevant and applicable to today’s
business environment.

Step 1:
Student Registration: The interested students have to register for the case writing competition using the

Step 2:
Case Writing Workshop
The workshop will be in Hybrid Mode for external participants. The internal participants (NCU students) are
required to attend the workshop in offline mode only.
Date – 8th November, 2024
Time – 10 a.m. onwards
Venue – NCU Seminar Hall
Step 2:
Case Writing Presentation Competition
The case writing workshop will be followed by case writing presentation competition. Participating teams will
be required to write a case (the standard template for PPT will be provided) and will be invited to present a
case to a panel of experts. This will be in hybrid mode.
• First Prize: Rs. 2,000/-
• Second Prize: Rs. 1,500/-
• Third Prize: Rs. 1,000/-
Certificates
Certificates will be given to all the winners and registered student teams as well.
