● Crochet hook (corresponding to your yarn weight, typically a 4mm or 5mm hook for
medium yarn)
● Stitch marker (optional but helpful)
● Fiberfill stuffing (optional, for a stuffed ball)
● Yarn needle

Basic Crochet Ball Pattern:

Step 1: Create a Magic Ring

● Make a magic ring (adjustable ring) and ch 1 to start.

Step 2: Round 1

● Inside the magic ring, make 6 single crochet (sc).

● Pull the magic ring tight to close the center.
(6 sc)

Step 3: Round 2

● Work 2 sc in each stitch around.

(12 sc)

Step 4: Round 3

● 1 sc in the next stitch, 2 sc in the next stitch. Repeat around.

(18 sc)

Step 5: Round 4

● 1 sc in the next 2 stitches, 2 sc in the next stitch. Repeat around.

(24 sc)

Step 6: Rounds 5-10

● For the next six rounds, simply crochet 1 sc in each stitch around.
(24 sc each round)

Step 7: Round 11

● 1 sc in the next 2 stitches, decrease (sc 2 together) in the next stitch. Repeat around.
(18 sc)
Step 8: Round 12

● 1 sc in the next stitch, decrease (sc 2 together) in the next stitch. Repeat around.
(12 sc)

Step 9: Round 13

● Decrease (sc 2 together) in each stitch around.

(6 sc)

Step 10: Finish

● Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail.

● Use a yarn needle to weave the tail through the remaining stitches, pulling tight to close
the hole.
● If you want a soft ball, stuff it lightly with fiberfill.

Optional:

● You can add features like eyes or a smile to make it into a cute character!
● You can also use a different color yarn at certain rounds for stripes or patterns.
