1 It’s A New
Year!
Proverbs 4:18

But the path of the just is like the shining sun, that
shines ever brighter unto the perfect day.

Happy New Year! It’s the beginning of

another great and exciting year. This year
will be better and brighter for you than
the last year.
How do I know? It’s in God’s Word. The
Bible says, “But the path of the just is like
the shining sun, that shines ever brighter
unto the perfect day” (Proverbs 4:18).
So, you see, things can only get better for
you. Isn’t that great! Be excited about what
the Lord is going to do with and through
you all through this year. Hallelujah!

Scripture Reading-3 John 1:2

Let’s Thank you, Lord, for another great

and exciting year. This year will be

Have A
Word Fast
Ezra 8:23
2
So we fasted and entreated our God for this, and
He answered our prayer.

The title of today’s devotion is what you

should do often this year. I’m not talking
about food fast; no. It’s a special kind of
fasting. It’s what I call “the fasting of words!”
It’s a time set aside for making faith-filled
declarations from God’s Word. How? First,
write down these confessions on a note.
Second, maintain your composure as you
begin to make these declarations; that is,
not allowing anything to distract you. Then
finally, begin to say these words again and
again!
As you do, you’ll be directing the course of
your life in the right path causing all things
to work for your good. This is how to have a
consistent life of victory! Hallelujah!

Scripture Reading-2 Corinthians 4:13

My life is full of glory, excellence Say

and beauty as I make faith-filled This
declarations from God’s Word
today and always! Glory to God!

You’re Blessed,
3 Graced and
Favoured!
Ephesians 1:3

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,

who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the
heavenly places in Christ

As God’s child, you’re not a child of chance.

God prepared your life beforehand. That’s
why you can’t say, “you’re lucky.”
God has planned those you’ll meet and
the places you’ll go this year. You don’t meet
people by chance, neither are you merely
lucky. Never! The Holy Spirit has planned
good things for you this year. Hallelujah!
So, when great things start happening to
you, and they surely will; don’t think it’s by
chance. Rather, lift your hands and thank
God knowing you’re blessed, graced and
favoured by the Lord. Glory to God!

Scripture Reading-Ephesians 2:10

This by the Lord; therefore, I walk in
abundant blessings every day of
this year. Hallelujah!

You Are
From Above
John 17:16

They are not of the world, just as I am not of
the world.

If you’re a Christian – a born-again

child of God – your origin is no longer in
the state or country where you were born.
You’ve moved to a new land, which is
Zion - the city of the Living God!
That’s where you’re really from now.
There are no blacks, whites or reds there;
it’s a nation of one people, one race and
one Lord. That’s the Church of the Lord
Jesus Christ. Hallelujah!
So, the next time someone asks you
where you’re from, you can confidently
say like our Lord Jesus said, “…I am not
of this world” (John 8:23). Hallelujah!

Nothing Is
Impossible
Mark 9:23

Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are
possible to him who believes.”

I love the Word of God. Every time I study

my Bible, I discover more and more that
anything is possible. Then I’m strengthened
to face any situation and win.
The Bible tells us about Abraham and his
wife, Sarah. The Bible says they were old,
and had passed the age of childbearing,
yet didn’t have a child. But one day, the
Lord visited them, and told Sarah that she
was going to have a son. That seemed
impossible, right? But just as the Lord had
said, Sarah had a baby boy, Isaac! (Genesis
18:12-15; 21:1-5).
You see, it doesn’t matter the situation, you
can change it, for all things are possible to
him who believes. Pray and declare faith-
filled words, and like Abraham and Sarah,
you’ll have your miracle!
Scripture Reading-Genesis 18:12-15;
21:1-5

Let’s Dear Father, thank you, for teaching

me to change unpleasant situations
Pray through prayer. As I do, there’re
noticeable changes in my life and

The Super
Force!
Hebrews 1:1-3
6
God…has in these last days spoken to us by His Son…
through whom also He made the worlds…and upholding
all things by the word of His power…

Do you know there’s a super-force

that keeps the planets in their courses
and makes the sun and the moon to
shine, the rain to fall and the flowers to
bloom at the right time? Yes, there is.
That super-force is the Word of God!
The Word of God is powerful. It keeps
the sun, moon, stars, galaxies, and
every other thing in place. The Word
with the same amazing power, will
work in your life if you hold on to it.
Make up your mind to give more
attention to the Word - the super-force,
that ensures that everything in your life
works according to God’s plan.

Scripture Reading-Joshua 1:8

Dear heavenly Father, thank you, Let’s

your Word. It produces in my life Pray

The Miracle-
7 Working
Name
Acts 3:6

…In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth,

rise up and walk.

The Name of Jesus is a miracle-working

Name. Peter used that Name to heal a
lame at the gate of the Temple. He looked
at the man and said, “I command you in
the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise
up and walk!” Then Peter took him by the
hand and pulled him up. Immediately the
lame man was healed and started walking
and jumping and praising God!
That lame man couldn’t stand up in his
own name or in his father’s name but when
the Name of Jesus was invoked, the man
leaped and walked!
The Name of Jesus works miracles. Like
Peter, use that Name today, and you’ll
experience its miracle-working power, in
your life and that of others.

Scripture Reading-Acts 3:1-8

Say
This The Name of Jesus is the most
powerful name in the world!

No
Laziness
Here!
Proverbs 12:24 CEV
8
Work hard, and you will be a leader; be lazy, and you
will end up a slave.

Psalm 1:3 says that every child of God ought

to prosper in anything he does. The important
thing here is he must be doing something; as
long as it’s good for God and others, you’ll
prosper in anything you do. But if you’re not
doing anything because you’re lazy, then there’s
nothing for the Lord to bless, and there won’t be
success or prosperity.
How did Daniel, a slave boy in Babylon, end
up as one of the Governors of the kingdom?
He worked hard, and that’s why God promoted
him (Daniel 6:3).
So, if you want to be the best in your class
in school, you have to get serious with your
schoolwork; pay attention to your teachers,

9 No Need
For Worry
Matthew 6:25

Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what

you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body,
what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the
body more than clothing?
Have you ever seen a bird worrying about
its food? Or have you heard that one of the
beautiful flowers in the garden worry about the
colour of its petals? If God could provide for
the birds and flowers, how much more you His
child, who He loves so much?
God loves you, and there’s absolutely nothing
that can change that. You don’t have to beg
your mummy to give you food or your daddy
to pay your school fees. Even if you had to,
God is kinder and more loving than anyone
you know, and He’s not about to let you suffer.
Never!
So, there’s no need for the worry. “Let him
have all your worries and cares, for he is always
thinking about you and watching everything
that concerns you” (1 Peter 5:7 TLB).

Scripture Reading-1 Peter 5:7

Thank you, Lord, for your Word to
Let’s me today. Therefore, I refuse to
Pray worry about anything because all
that I need have been supplied, in
Jesus’ Name. Amen.

You’re Of
A Higher
Rank!
Luke 10:17 TLB
10
…Even the demons obey us when we use your name.

In the army, there’re hierarchy. That means

a General is of a higher rank to a Major. This
simply means that the Major takes orders
from the General.
In the same way, you’re of a higher rank
than any creation, including the demons
and their master, Satan. What this means is
that you can cast out devils just as the Lord
Jesus said in Mark 16:17.
So, whenever you tell the devil to come
out of someone or to stop doing evil things
around you, he’s bound to obey at once.
That’s because you’re superior to him!

11 A Fruitful
Tree
Genesis 49:22

Joseph is a fruitful bough, a fruitful bough by a well;

his branches run over the wall.

Today’s memory verse are prophetic

words of Jacob to Joseph. Though Joseph
is no longer on earth, you can receive
these words for you.
As God’s child, you’re a fruitful tree. What
does that mean? It means you’re fruitful,
and you bear fruits of righteousness. In
other words, anything and everything
about you is blessed.
So, remain connected to the Lord to
keep producing fruits of righteousness,
excellence and perfection like a tree
planted by the river side. Hallelujah!

Study Your
Bible
2 Timothy 2:15
12
Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a
worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly
dividing the word of truth.

Some children are very studious when it

comes to their mathematics or sciences. They
spend quality time with their school texts.
That’s very good. As a Christian, you should
have much more interest in studying your
Bible too.
I know it’s good to study your school texts
because you need to excel in your exams.
However, God’s Word will show you how to
live and become an all-round success, and to
be prosperous (Joshua 1:8).
When you study the Bible, you’re actually
feeding your spirit and mind with information
that’ll put you over in life.

13 Be Bold!
Proverbs 28:1

The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous

are bold as a lion.

Something about a lion that stands it out

from other animals is its boldness. That’s
why our memory verse likens the righteous
to a lion.
Why wasn’t Moses afraid to go before the
Pharaoh of Egypt? Or why wasn’t David
scared of Goliath the giant? Or why wasn’t
Daniel afraid of the lions’ den? The reason
was that they had the boldness of God
because they were all righteous men!
This is a special kind of boldness which
comes by the Holy Spirit. He’ll help you do
what God wants you to do. He makes you
tell your friends and those around you about
Jesus. This boldness is what you need today.
But you know what’s amazing? It’s already
in you! You can activate it today by speaking
in tongues.

The Word
Makes You
Wise!
2 Timothy 3:15 TLB
14
…you were taught the holy Scriptures; and it is these
that make you wise…

As a child of God, it’s important you take

the Word of God seriously. The reason
Joshua was successful was that he took
the Word of God seriously (Joshua 1:8).
What about our Lord Jesus? He was very
smart and wise. At some points, the adults
around Him were amazed at the way He
answered questions (Luke 2:47).
You see, every opportunity you get to hear
or study your Bible is an opportunity to add
wisdom into your life. The Word of God
makes you wise, smart and intelligent.
Through studying and meditating on the
Word, you become wiser and different
from your peers. Soon, everyone around
you’ll notice that you’re different. So, go
for the Word every day (2 Timothy 3:15).

You Get
15 What You
Say
Mark 11:24

Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when

you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will
have them.

Today’s memory verse are the Words of our

Lord Jesus. And this was how He lived while
He was on earth.
Our Lord Jesus spoke words, and He got
answers to all He said; whether He was
talking to a tree, a raging storm or a corpse.
Every time He spoke to them, they responded
to Him and did exactly what He wanted.
Glory to God!
Just like the Lord Jesus, you can have
whatever you say. That’s why you shouldn’t
say things that aren’t in line with God’s Word;
instead, speak words that reflect the excellent
spirit that you have! Remember, what you say
is what you’ll get!

The Miracle
Inside You!
Acts 1:8
16
But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has
come upon you…

Have you received the Holy Spirit? If you

have, then I want you to know that He’s all
you need to live a wonderful life in Christ.
Some children are weak and fearful. The
reason they’re that way is either because
they don’t have the Holy Spirit or don’t know
Who He is and what He can do in and
through them. The Holy Spirit is the One who
emboldens you because He’s the miracle
inside you!
Remember that the miracle you desire to

Matthew 17:20

Do you know what a mustard seed looks

like? Does it have branches, leaves or flowers
on it? Of course not! But as tiny as this seed
is, when planted in the soil, it becomes a
very big oak tree.
Children who love God and live by His
Word are like little mustard seeds planted
in the soil. They grow up to become super
strong, healthy and successful men and
women. You’re rooted and established by
studying and speaking God’s Word.

Some children hide their Bibles because

they don’t want their friends to laugh at
them. Don’t do that. Be bold to declare that
you’re born again, and that Jesus is Lord of
your life.
As a child of God, you must be proud to
let people know that you’re a Christian, and
that you have a relationship with the Lord.
Jesus said that He would be proud to tell

heard their prayers and sent an angel

We’re
God’s Holy
Children
Ephesians 1:4
20
Just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the
world, that we should be holy and without blame before
Him in love

Some people think it’s the angels in

heaven that are God’s holy children. No!
Everyone who’s born-again is a holy child
of God. That means you’re one of God’s
holy children, if you’re already born again.
That’s why Paul, the Apostle, calls us “…holy
brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling…
(Hebrews 3:1).
Don’t be surprised! Being holy isn’t a result
of what you do but who you are. To be holy
means to be separated unto God. Jesus
Christ separated you unto God; that means
you belong to Him through Jesus Christ.
That makes you holy. Isn’t that so beautiful!
So, do holy things. Always remember who
you are through God’s Word and live that
way, every day.

21 Be On Fire
For God
Jeremiah 20:9

Then I said, “I will not make mention of Him, nor speak

anymore in His name.” But His word was in my heart like
a burning fire shut up in my bones; I was weary of
holding it back, and I could not.

When there’s a fire burning, and you move

close to it, you feel its heat. Fire burns whatever
it meets. That’s what happened to Jeremiah in
our memory verse. He couldn’t stop talking
about the Lord because he was on fire for Him.
God wants you to be on fire for Him, so that
anytime you meet people who are not saved,
they’ll feel the fire of God in you as you preach
the Gospel to them. When you meet someone
who’s facing a difficult problem, the fire in you
will make you pray for the person, and the
problem will be solved.
Learn to increase the fervency of God’s fire
in your life as you study your Bible and pray
every day.

We’re His

Hebrews 2:11 CEV
22
Jesus and the people he makes holy all belong to the

Jesus was the only begotten of the Father

(John 3:16). But when He died and resurrected,
He became the first begotten of the Father
(Revelation 1:5). Jesus’ death and resurrection
opened the way for everyone. Those who
believe in Him and confess His Lordship are
born again.
At once, they become sons and daughters of
the heavenly Father as well. And the Bible says
that Jesus isn’t ashamed to call us His brothers
and sisters. What’s more, our heavenly Father
is proud and happy that He has many children
who love Him.

The Lord
Is Good!
1 Chronicles 16:34

Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!

For His mercy endures forever.

Some people blame God for all the terrible

things that happen: bomb blasts, earthquakes,
wars, plane crashes and so on. But God is not
to blame for all these things.
God is good (Psalm 118:1)! He doesn’t cause
evil to happen to anyone. The devil is responsible
for all the evils and so, he’s to be blamed. He’s
a thief, a liar and a murderer. He takes pleasure
in stealing, killing and destroying.
But thanks be to God, because the Bible says
Jesus came to destroy all the evil works of the
devil. That’s the reason you’ve got to preach
the Goodnews so that the people in your world

Storm,
Be Calm!
Mark 4:39
24
Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the
sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there
was a great calm.

One day, the Lord Jesus and His disciples

were travelling on a boat, when the weather
suddenly changed. The storm was so bad
that the boat began to sink.
The disciples were scared but the Lord
Jesus was asleep. So, they woke Him. When
He woke up, He simply spoke to the wind,
commanding the storm to be still, and the
Bible says there was a great calm.
If you’re facing any situation that’s troubling
you just as the storm troubled the disciples,
speak to it just as Jesus spoke to the storm,
it’ll obey you and there’ll be a calm in that
situation. Hallelujah!

Scripture Reading-Job 22:28

Go To
Church
Psalm 122:1

I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go into

the house of the Lord.”

David loved to go into the temple to

worship God as a young lad, ever before
he became the king of Israel. No wonder
the words of today’s memory verse are
his testimony.
Joshua also followed Moses into the
tabernacle of God and wouldn’t leave
even after everyone else had left (Exodus
33:11). One time as a child, the Lord
Jesus stayed back in the temple and His
parents had to look for Him (Luke 2:43-
49).
Do you want to be great? Then start
doing what the Lord Jesus and these other
great men did. Go to church regularly to
pray and be blessed by the Word of God.
Tomorrow is another opportunity, so see
you in church!

Receive Sunday

Forgiveness,
And Keep Going!
Hebrews 4:16
26
Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace,
that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in
time of need.

In a race, there’re several runners but one

price. As the race begins, if a runner trips or
falls, he won’t stay down and watch others
run past him; rather, he’ll get back up and
keep running. It’s the same attitude you
should have if you make a mistake in your
walk of faith.
Therefore, don’t sulk and beat yourself up
when you make a mistake; rather, tell God
how sorry you are, and like the runner, get
up, and keep going.
There’s a lot of good and pleasant things
ahead for you. So, receive forgiveness and
keep going. Glory to God!

The Power
of Prayer
James 5:17

Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed

earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the
land for three years and six months.

The Bible gives us Elijah as an example of

someone who prayed and got results. He
prayed earnestly that no rain would fall, and
none fell for three and a half years!
Then, he prayed again, this time that it
would rain, and God answered his prayers
and it rained heavily upon the earth. You too
can pray and have your prayers answered
like Elijah’s because you’re righteous too!
Through the power of prayer, you can bring
about positive changes in your life, family,
school, city or nation where you live!

Scripture Reading-James 5:16

Your Mouth Is
A Weapon!
Proverbs 18:21
28
Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those
who love it will eat its fruit.

Today’s memory verse talks about an

immensely powerful weapon that you have.
You see, the Old Testament folks were
taught to wage physical battles because
they functioned in the sense realm.
But now in the New Testament, we battle
differently, from the realm of the spirit. In
that realm, there’s nothing impossible. All
you need do is use your mouth to create by
saying whatever you want. How important
the mouth is!
Every time you release words from your
mouth, you’re wielding a dangerous
weapon that’ll cut down such enemies as
sickness, failure and so on. No wonder
the Apostle Paul said, “I use God’s mighty
weapons, not those made by men, to
knock down the devil’s strongholds” (2
Corinthians 10:4 TLB).

New Day;

Psalm 68:19

the God of our salvation!

when you got a gift on your birthday? Now,
imagine getting a gift every day. Wouldn’t
that be great? But, do you know God
gives gifts too? And His gifts aren’t once a
year, but every day. Today’s memory verse
shows us just that!
Therefore, start out each day by thanking
God for His gifts and blessings in your life.

Mightier Than
Samson
Philippians 4:13

I can do all things through Christ who

strengthens me.

Have you ever heard of Samson? He was

a mighty man and the champion of Israel
in his day. At one time he killed a young,
strong lion with his bare hands (Judges
14:5-6). At another time, he defeated 1,000
trained Philistine soldiers with the jawbone of
a donkey (Judges 15:15-16).
Yet another time, he pulled out the gate of
the enemy’s city with his bare hands; poles,
bars and all, and carried them away on his
shoulders (Judges 16:3). Amazing, isn’t it?
Samson performed all these superhuman
feats whenever the Spirit of God came upon
him. Guess what? The Spirit of God isn’t only
upon you today, He’s also in you. Therefore,
you can do much more amazing things
through His power in you.

You
31 Should Do
Something!
Exodus 14:16

Lift up your rod, and stretch out your hand over

the sea and divide it…

Sometimes when people face difficult situations,

they cry about it. But that’s wrong! God has
already given us power to cause the changes we
desire.
The children of Israel were faced with the
difficulty of crossing the Red Sea, and Moses cried
to the Lord for help. But God’s response was,
“Moses, you do something! Divide the sea!” And
when Moses stretched his hand over the sea with
the rod in his hand, it parted into two and the
Israelites went over on dry ground (Exodus 14:15-
16).
Therefore, when you face a difficult situation,
don’t cry or beg or ask someone to pray to God on
your behalf. You can do something by speaking
God’s Word to the situation. Your words have the
power to cause the changes you desire.

Scripture Reading-Exodus 14:15-16

This I can do all things through Christ!

What You Need
To Know About
Prophecy - Part 4
I trust you’ve learnt a lot already in our past editions on the
special series on What You Need To Know About Prophecy. In
this edition, we’ll take our study further as we look at how your
word of prophecy can change things, give life to your body and
anything that belongs to you. Let’s get started.
The Valley of Dry Bones – Ezekiel 37:1-10
The Lord reveals to us just how important and powerful
prophecy is. One of such accounts is in the book of Ezekiel
37:1-10.
The Lord took Ezekiel to a valley full of dry bones. There were
dead men’s bones everywhere, and as far as the eyes could see
all over that open valley, the bones were very dry indeed.
Then the Lord asked Ezekiel a direct question, “Can these bones
live?” In other words, “Can things change here?”
Ezekiel looked around and probably thought to himself, “It
looks really bad here, I doubt that they can,” but he replied,
“Well, Lord, you know!” He was telling God in other words,
“You only know if they can live or not. It’s up to you to decide!

42
Titbits
If you want them to live, they’ll live. If you don’t want them to
live, they won’t.” He threw the ball right back in God’s court!
The Lord’s response was very instructive. He told him, “It’s not
up to Me, Ezekiel; it’s up to you to do something about these
bones and see to it that they live!”
Then the Lord told him what to do. He told Ezekiel to prophesy
to the bones. The Lord was teaching Ezekiel how to change
things through prophecy, and He taught him exactly what to
say in his prophecy. He’s letting you know you can prophesy to
the things you want to change. You can also prophesy to the
Lord Himself!
Prophesy To The ‘Car’! – Matthew 17:20; Mark 11:23
This account reminds me of an incident in 1984. My dad had
several cars, but after a while, they started packing up one after
the other. I observed that none of the cars was working. So, I
said to him, “Dad, you’ve got to talk to these cars! Prophesy to
them!”
At the beginning, he found it hard to believe. But each time
I was home from school, I would talk about these things and
share with him how to prophesy to his car. He finally believed
and started acting on it, and before long the results came. One
after the other, his cars received life and got back on the road.
Yes! You too can talk to your body, academics, chores, eyes,
ears, legs, and whatever was dead or dying will receive life and
come alive again. Hallelujah!
