Assignment 2

1. She terribly misses her mother. She went to the USA with her father, but her mother couldn’t
accompany her due to visa restrictions. It was heart-wrenching for both of them.

2. Maria Sharapova is a famous tennis player. Besides sports, she had an interest in fashion, singing,
and dancing. She has a good sense of style. Her main interest is reading novels by Arthur Conan
Doyle.

3. Maria was determined and mentally tough. She was determined to become the best. Her talent,
unwavering desire to succeed and readiness to sacrifice was the basis of her achievement of success.
4. Maria resides in the United States, but she calls herself totally Russian as she has Russian
citizenship. She flaunts her Russian nationality. She claims that her blood is Russian, and she wishes
to compete for Russia.

5. Maria had to go to the US with her father. Her mother was left behind in Siberia because of visa
restrictions. Maria had to bear the separation from her mother to achieve the goal of her life. She
had to face a lot of hurdles.

Assignment 3

1. Maria was passionate about Tennis and achieved great name and fame. Maria has a great sense of
fashion, irrespective of sports. She looks highly fashionable; she chose to wear shorts. She was a
charming girl with a friendly approach toward everyone. She did not let the evil things affect her
game.

2. The phrase “All this happened almost in no time” means that there was a rapid ascent for Maria in
a fiercely competitive world. Maria didn’t take much time to prove herself to the world. She rose to
the top in the world of Tennis very quickly. She became the number one player within a very short
span of four years.

3. Maria decided not to quit and pack up on being harassed by her fellow trainees because she knew
she had a long race to run. At the training academy, the other trainees, who were senior to her,
humiliated her and asked her to clean the room. She did as she was told to. It showed that she has
great mental strength, which led her to the path of peace and harmony. Her persistence,
perseverance, a lively soul, her tolerance made her forget all insults and move towards success.

4. When Maria was 9, her father took her to the US. She stayed there for years. She developed an
American accent and joined training for her sport, but she proudly flaunts her Russian citizenship.
She called herself a Russian. She says her blood is Russian, and she would play for Russia.

5. Maria Sharapova is a determined and strong girl. She had set a fixed goal in her life, and to
achieve that, she had faced many hurdles and sacrificed a lot. Nothing can let her forget her dream.
She rose to the top in the world of Tennis. Due to her determination and mental strength, she stayed
positive when bullied. She became the no. 1 tennis player within a short span of 4 years.

Assignment 4
 1. Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice, and love of
what you are doing. Maria Sharapova was a strong as well as an emotional girl. But she did not let
her emotions come in the path of her career. She achieved success due to her hard work and
dedication to her goal. At a very tender age, when children love to play with toys and grow under the
shadow of the love and care of their parents, Maria had to leave Siberia and go to the US for her
tennis training. She was separated from her mother, which was heart-wrenching. She has faced many
hurdles. She was being bullied by the senior trainees of the training centre, but she remained calm
and focused on her goal.

2. Maria had rightly proved that to achieve success, the attitude towards a goal matter more than the
money. If you want success, you should focus on your goal. Sharapova came from a poor family living
in Russia. Her father was working hard to support his daughter. She set her goal at a very young age
and moved to the US along with her father to follow her dream. She stayed away from her mother
but did not let that make her emotionally weak. Though she greatly missed her, with experience, she
became more determined and mentally tough. She was not fortunate to get all the luxuries of life,
but she was fortunate that she had strong determination and willpower, which led her to the path of
fame.

3. When Maria was in the training camp, her seniors mistreated her. After the day’s hard work,
Maria would sleep at 8 pm to maintain her routine. The seniors used to come at 11 pm and woke her
and asked to tidy up the room and clean it. They bullied her because she was young and could be
dominated. If I were in the same situation, I would never treat my junior fellows like this. I would
definitely help them in every situation. Like in the room, sports ground, etc. I would guide them to
the right decision. I would encourage them to the new challenges.

4. Maria has become one of the biggest sensations in the world of Tennis with the virtue of
dedication and her strong willpower. The way she faced the hardships and struggles of her life is
commendable. She got encouraged by her parents. Her father always stood by her side and devoted
himself to fulfilling his child’s dream. Maria Sharapova rises to the top of the world with her
strenuous efforts. Maria was determined, mentally tough and determined to become the best. She
ignored all the humiliation and bullying done to her by her fellow trainees and moved towards
success. For her, Tennis is a business and a sport.
