“WHICH HOLIDAY DO YOU LIKE ?

Hello, I am Kim Oanh, the leader of a group of four classes studying English 2 LT sixteen. My group
consists of six members including two boys and four girls. our group worked on the topic "which holiday
do you like?". The following is our team's presentation:

KIỀU TRANG (GIỚI THIỆU BẢN THÂN +GIA ĐÌNH DƯỚI 30 GIÂY)

Talking about the topic of festivals, first of all we need to know what "festival" is? A festival is a special
event or occasion, often characterized by a series of celebrations, rituals and activities. Festivals can be
religious, cultural or seasonal in nature and can include many forms of performing arts, traditional
ceremonies, parties and community gatherings.

In Vietnam, festivals play a central role in preserving the country's rich cultural heritage and traditions.
Some of the most popular festivals in Vietnam include: Lunar New Year, Mid-Autumn Festival, Hue
Festival, Hoi An Lantern Festival... These festivals demonstrate cultural, spiritual and cultural diversity.
There is a strong sense of community in Vietnam, bringing people together to weave the threads of
tradition into the fabric of modern life.

HUYỀN TRANG (GIỚI THIỆU BẢN THÂN + GIA ĐÌNH 30S)

Among those special holidays, Tet is my favorite day. Tet, also known as Lunar New Year, is one of the
most important traditional holidays of the Vietnamese people. This is a holiday where Vietnamese
people will have precious moments to think about what happened in the past year and what is coming
in the next year. I like it because at Tet everyone in the family will be together, celebrate New Year's Eve
together and sit down and tell stories that happened in the old year. One of the reasons I like it is that
the streets and public buildings will be beautifully decorated with colored lights, and almost all the
shops will be crowded with people buying things for Tet, and what not. The indispensable thing is that
on Tet holiday I will receive lovely lucky money bags. Those things have contributed to adding unique
cultural features to my country.

NGUYỄN TRANG (giới thiệu gia đình và bản thân dưới 30s)

So where does this Tet originate and how does it take place? Let's explore together.

Lunar New Year originated in China, was strongly influenced by Chinese culture during more than 1000
years of Chinese domination, Lunar New Year was also one of the cultural features introduced to
Vietnam at that time. Because the calculation method of the Vietnamese lunar calendar is different from
that of China, the Vietnamese Lunar New Year does not completely coincide with the Chinese New Year.

The Lunar New Year begins on the first day of the lunar year, usually 1 to 2 months later than the New
Year due to the rule of 3 leap years and 1 month of the lunar year. So the start of Lunar New Year will
fall between January 21 and February 10. Lunar New Year takes place at a time when farmers are idle
and resting to prepare for the new crop. Because traditionally, most Vietnamese people work in
agriculture, so when they have free time they will feel excited, making up for the hard working days.

Bin (giới thiệu bản thân + gia đình)

Before Tet, this is the busiest and busiest time for everyone. Everyone buys furniture, cleans the house
thoroughly, prepares things like plants, food, and decorates their home. Besides, most of the roads are
beautifully decorated with colored lights and flowers, the streets are bustling with people, and the
markets sell peach blossoms and kumquat trees, which are necessities to serve people. everyone during
Tet. In addition, there are many special dishes prepared for Tet meals such as: Chung cake, silk spring
rolls, spring rolls. All of these activities have contributed to creating an exciting and joyful atmosphere
for each Tet holiday and spring

After preparing the steps before Tet, the time during Tet is what everyone looks forward to the most.
During Tet, people often visit relatives and wish each other a happy new year. Worshiping Mr. Cong and
Mr. Tao is also an important ritual. During these days, people also participate in folk games such as
Chinese chess, shuttlecock, and crab and tiger fish. An indispensable part of Tet is enjoying traditional
dishes such as banh chung, watermelon, and Tet jam. In addition, giving gifts and lucky money is also a
traditional cultural beauty of Vietnamese people during Tet. This is an opportunity for everyone to
gather, enjoy joy and share love with family and friends.

OANH

Lunar New Year in Vietnamese culture not only marks the transition between lunar years but also
contains many precious spiritual and cultural values. This is the time when people thank the gods for a
good harvest and pray for a prosperous new year. At the same time, Tet is also a time of family bonding,
where people gather, remember their ancestors and express gratitude. All create an atmosphere of
happiness and solidarity, making Lunar New Year a memorable and meaningful moment for every
family.

This is the end of group four's talk about the festival theme. Thank you everyone for listening.
