Head and Body of the Cat (1 piece)

Begin with the yarn in gray. Use a 2 mm hook.
The detail should be stuffed in the process of crocheting.

From the next row we have to shift the beginning of the row to the center of the back so that the
line where we change the colors of the yarns is in the center of the back of the detail – place the
new marker there. To make that happen just crochet the needed quantity of stitches till you
reach the newly placed marker (I had to crochet 10 to reach the new marker, maybe you will
need to crochet another quantity of stitches).
R 25: 1 sc in each stitch around (68 sc + the needed quantity to reach the newly place marker)
Cut off the gray yarn and attach the white one.
While working, you will need to keep the work
symmetrical. As work tends to twist to the right you need
to adjust position of the marker periodically (beginning of
round). If you notice that marker moves right, you need to
work one extra stitch in the end of round and move marker
for one stitch (now 2nd st of the round becomes 1st). If
you notice that the marker moves left, you need to unravel
one stitch (or more if needed). This is shift stitch – it is not
included in description of rounds.

Fold the detail, mark the extreme side stitches with markers (they should be placed in the
central ones of those three that are crocheted dc). Crochet up to the left marker and close the
central part of the opening with a long needle, continue filling the detail through the lateral
openings. Close the detail crocheting with the help of sl.st. When closing the opening go on
filling the head (see the photos below). At the end of the row cut the yarn off, fix it and hide the
tail of the yarn inside the body.

Count 7 sc from each end and begin sewing the edges with the help of the backstitch at
approximately 45 degrees angle forming the ears.

Nose of the Cat (1 piece)

R 1: 6 sc in MR (6)
R 2: 6 inc (12)
R 3-5: 1 sc in each stitch around (12)
Stuff the detail but not over-tightly.
R 6: 6 dec (6)
Cut off the yarn leaving a long tail for sewing.

5
Attach the nose with the help of the sewing pin between the 8th and 9th rows counting from the
top of the detail. Sew the nose on around the pin in turn taking the stitches of the head and nose.
Try to get the stitches of the head as close to the base of the nose as possible. Fix the thread
well and hide its tail inside the head. Mark the place for the eyes. Attach the beads that you plan
to use for the eyes. Mark the spots for the moustache hairs and embroider the moustache and
the mouth. Attach the eye beads as shown in the photos. Fix and hide the tails of the thread
under the nose.

Divide the dark blue yarn into two threads to make it thinner.
Make a decorative seam (visibly dividing the white and light
blue stripes) with the help back stitch taking two sc (see photo).

R 8: (2 sc, dec) 3 times, 1 sc (10) sewing.
Fill the crocheted detail but not over-tightly.
The palm should be soft and rather flat. Do
not fill the detail above the palm.

Make the decorative seam dividing the

white and light blue stripes as we did on the
body of the toy.
Take a strong black thread (it should not be
too thick though). Divide the palm with the
sewing pins in 4 parts as shown in the photo.
Thread the palm through following the
marked spots pulling the thread rather
tightly. In every one of the rows make 2-3
stitches to define the fingers.

Legs of the Cat (2 pieces)

Start at the underside of the leg.
The Foot (2 pieces)

Gather the stitches around the hole onto a piece of yarn with the help of a needle, pull it tightly
together and fix the yarn well. Hide the tail of the yarn inside the foot. The heel should be rather
flat.
Stuff the foot not over-tightly. The detail should be soft.

Attach the yarn from the inside of the opening in the foot.
Crochet 12 sc around the opening.

R 1-21: 1 sc in each stitch around (12)

R 22: 6 dec (6)
Stuff the leg not tightly. Gather the stitches around the opening onto a piece of yarn with the
help of a needle, pull it tightly together and fix the yarn well leaving a long tail for attaching of
the legs to the body. Repeat for the other leg.

Divide the paw into five parts with the help of the sewing pins decorate in the same way as
you did the arms.

The Tail of the Cat (1 piece)

Stuff the detail in the process of crocheting but very
loosely.
R 1: 6 sc in MR (6)
R 2: (2 sc, 1 inc) 2 times (8)
R 3: (3 sc, 1 inc) 2 times (10)
R 4: (4 sc, 1 inc) 2 times (12)
R 5-6: 1 sc in each stitch around (12)
R 7: 1 inc, 11 sc (13)
R 8-36: 1 sc in each stitch around (13)
Cut off the yarn leaving a long tail for sewing.
Assembling the Toy
Attach the arms on the same vertical line as the ears to the last light blue stripes. Begin attaching
them from the upper part and then attach them from the side of the armpit.

Copyright 2015 KnitAmiracle by Nelly ALL RIGHTS RESERVED

9
Steam iron the upper part of the arms through a wet cloth pressing them a bit down so that they
do not stick out.
Mark the spot pith sewing pins where you are going to attach the legs – it should be on the same
vertical line as the ears and arms approximately in the 8th row.

To attach the legs, start at the underside of one of legs. Thread the needle from the underside of
the leg, make a small stitch on the outside of the leg and thread again through the leg. Then thread
the needle all through the body going out with the needle in the spot where you are planning to
attach the other leg. Attach the other leg in the same manner. Repeat the process two times at
least all the time going through the same needle holes. Do not pull the thread too
tightly. Fix the thread at the underside if the first leg you attached. In this way the legs of the cat
can move.

10
Fix the tail with the help of the sewing pins between the 6th and 8th rows. Make the cat into
a seated position and see to it that the tail does not interfere with him being seated. Sew the tail
in small stitches around the tail.

Breeches
Use dark blue yarn and hook 2,5 mm.
The Belt of the Breeches
Ch 6 and work starting from 2nd st counting from
the hook:
R 1: 5 sc, 1 ch, turn the work

Attach the piece together with the help of the connecting stitches.
Keep crocheting the breeches spiralwise.
R 1: Crochet around the band 56 sc
R 2: (6 sc, 1 inc) 8 times (64)
R 3-11: 1 sc in each stitch around (64)
R 12: 61 sc, 6 ch, skip 6 sc (the chain is going to be attached to the 4th stitch after the
marker)(64)
R 13: 61 sc, (58 sc, 3 sc on chains), place the marker
R 14: 64 sc, (3 sc on chains, 61 sc) (64)

Begin crocheting the crotch in turning rows.

R 15: 37 sc, turn the work
R 16-20: 1 ch, 10 sc, turn the work
Mark with the markers the 5th stitch from each side of the main marker of the beginning of the
row. Turn the detail inside out and attach the crotch between the new markers with the help of
the sl st from the wrong side.

Turn the breeches out again and get the yarn to the right side of the detail. Continue crocheting
the first leg without cutting off the yarn. Crochet 5 sc along the edge of the crotch and 22 sc
following the edge of the leg.

12
Then go on crocheting the leg of the breeches.
R 1-2: 1 sc in each stitch around (27)
R 3: (7 sc, 1 dec) 3 times, sl st (24)
Cut and fasten off.

The other leg of the breeches

Attach the yarn at the back to the left of the crotch, crochet 22 sc following the edge of the
other leg and then 5 sc following the edge of the crotch. Then continue crocheting and repeat
the same you did for the first leg.
Straps for the Breeches (2 pieces)
Use the 2,5 mm crochet hook.
Leave a long yarn tail for sewing and begin crocheting a chain of desired length (I did 50 chains)
and then make a row of single crochet on one long side alongside the chain. Crochet 3 single
crochet into the last stitch and continue crocheting single crochet into the chain from the other
side. Cut the thread leaving a long tail for sewing.

Make a loop with the help of the red yarn, attach it

to the first chain on the wrong side of the detail,
make it exit on the right side of the detail and leave
the thread you are making it with on the wrong side
of the detail. Crochet sl sts along the center of the
detail. Try not to pull the thread too tightly. At the
end of the detail cut and fasten off.

Breeches pocket (2 pieces)
Use the 2,5 mm crochet hook. Crochet with the red
yarn.
Ch 7 and work starting from 2nd st counting from the
hook.
R 1: 6 sc, turn the work
R 2-6: 1 ch, 6 sc, turn the work
Then turn the detail 90 degrees counterclockwise and
crochet sc around the perimeter. Crochet 2 sc in spots
2 and 3 shown in the scheme. Cut and fasten off.

Attach the straps to the breeches. First attach the pockets

with the help of the sewing pins and then sew them on
with the dark blue yarn.

R 8: (6 sc, 1 inc) 6 times (48)
R 9: (7 sc, 1 inc) 6 times (54)
R 10: (7 sc, 1 dec) 6 times (48)
R 11: (2 sc, 1 dec) 12 times (36)
R 12: 1 sc in each stitch around (36)
Cut and fasten off.

The Beret button
Use dark blue yarn and hook 2 mm.
R 1: 6 sc in MR (6)
R 2: 6 inc (12)
R 3: 1 sc in each stitch around (12)
R 4: 6 dec (6)
Cut off the yarn leaving a long tail for sewing.
Fix the button onto the top of the beret.

Put the beret over one ear, sew it on to the head, incline it to the other ear and fix it with a little
stitch.

If you take yarns of different colors and textures, you can crochet a whole
crowd of absolutely different cats!
