♥ 4.25 mm crochet hook

Note About Beak:

Finished Size:

may vary depending on the yarn and size of crochet hook used.
Abbreviations:
R = round
st = stitch
sc = single crochet
inc = increase (single crochet twice in the same stitch)
dec = decrease (single crochet two stitches together)
* = repeat instructions between * and *
Important Note:
Each piece begins with a “ring”. Use any type of ring you are comfortable with
(i.e. adjustable loop, chain 2 and single crochet in second chain, etc.). Work in
one continuous spiral and mark the last stitch of each round to keep track of
where you are.
♥ Birdie Beak (also known as: magic or adjustable loop)
   1) Position the yarn in this shape (with the long tail going upwards)
   2) Hook the yarn on the other side
   3)   Pull the yarn through
   4) Yarn over and pull through the loop on your hook (like a single crochet)
   5) Single crochet around the loop 10 times
   6) Pull the loop tight so that there is a little hole in the middle, then fasten off while
        leaving a tail for sewing
                                             1                                      2
                                             3                                      4

♥ Birdie Hair
Cut two pieces of yarn approximately 8” long. Make a slip knot with one piece of yarn. Fold
the second piece of yarn over several times until you have the desired number of hairs. Slip
the folded yarn through the slip knot and pull the knot closed. Sew hair to the top of the
birdie’s head then trim the hair as short as you like!
