Grid setup

Each SCTN need to have following attributes set

Gtype, to XGRD or YGRD depending on line direction
Description, the name of the grid to be on drawing, i.e. A or 2

Each zone of grids (usually, only one grid zone is used) also requires a datum element. Name is not
significant

Zone attribute setup

Zone owning rest need to have attribute :VOFSUPPGRID to name of FRMW owning grids, see
example above, and attribute :VOFSUPPDRWNG set to ProArc number for document management

Purpose Setup
Purpose of Zone, Frmw and Sbfr should be set to GRID

Other settings
If building with spec SSG2013, it is possible to change default position of ATTA for elbow supports,
type 32. This setting is not saved between sessions.
Basic steps creating a support
Design primary and secondary supports

1) Start the tool from Valmet Main menu

2) Select owning Zone of primary support

3) Select owning Stru for secondary support steel

Example of Zone of primary support and Stru for secondary support steel.

If unsure then contact your lead engineering

4) Press [Hangers and Support] to continue

5a) Pick next available name of support (Option if Autonaming is available for project)

5b) Enter name of support manually (Option if not using Auto naming)

6) Select correct support specification

7) Select type of support

8) Select support subs

Example of primary support options

Name: R001-50-A

Spec: SSG2013

Type: 11 Slide Support

Subs: BL

9) Press [Create primary pipe support] to continue

10) Click on pipe to select location of support. Support atta is placed after previous pipe member

Move option a: Move primary support to item

11a) Press [Move]

12a) Click on item

Move option b: Move primary support by value

11b) Enter move value

12b) Press [Move]

Step 13 and 14 is optional to add additional supports to the same Primary Support

Repast step 13 and 14 for each additional support

Make changes in Spec, Type and Subs if needed before step 13.

13) Press [Create primary pipe support]

14) Click on pipe

15) Press [Secondary pipe support manipulation]
16) Select secondary support template

17) Press [Select]

18) Select steel profile

19) Set measures depending on template

20) Press [Dismiss] to close tool

21) Press [CHECK]
22) Press [Support Drawing info.]

23) Press [Today´s date]

24) Enter Drawing number (Drawing), Revision (Rev) and By (User name)
Step 25 is optional if the default Drawing Views doesn’t work well with support orientation.

The top-left view direction should be main view for support drawing, in this example East.

25) Click [Datu] option

26) Press [APPLY]

27) Press [DISMISS]

Update and modify existing VofSupp support
Make the following changes to existing Vofsupp supports:

A) Rename support

B) Delete support

C) Change primary support

D) Move support

E) Synchronize hangers

F) Add stoppers

G) Adjust Luggs

H) Change Support origo, Datum point

Start tool

1) Start [VOF Restraints & Support Settings] menu from Valmet main menu.

2) Open [VOF Primary Pipe Supports MPG menu]

A) Rename support

A1) Click on ATTA, REST or FRMW of Support

A2) Open VOF Restraints & Support Settings

A3) Press [Modify] and then [Rename & Drawing]

B) Delete support

B1) Start VOF Primary Pipe Supports MPG menu

B2) Click on ATTA, REST or FRMW of Support

B3) Press on [CE]

B4) Click on [SUPP] option

B5) Press on [Delete] button

C) Change primary support

C1) Start VOF Primary Pipe Supports MPG menu

C2) Click on Primary Support Hanger

C3) Press on [CE]

C4) Select new Spec/Type/Subtype as needed

C5) Press [Reselect Primary Pipe Support]

C6) Press [Yes]

C7) Make possible options and Press [OK]

Primary support is replaced.

D) Move support

D1) Start VOF Primary Pipe Supports MPG menu

D2) Click on Primary Support Hanger

D3) Press on [CE]

D4) Press [SUPP]

D5) Enter required Distance

D4) Press [MOVE]

The support has moved.

E) Synchronize hangers
If pipe have been changed and the support attas have moved from their original position this function
move the support to the new position.
E1) Start VOF Primary Pipe Supports MPG menu

E2) Click on Primary Support Hanger

E3) Press on [CE]

E4) Press [Synchronize HANG & ATTAs]

This command moves the primary support to the new position. The secondary support is not affected.
E5) Press [Secondary pipe support manipulation]

E6) Choose [Rest]

E7) Press [Re-adjust]

The secondary support has moved to the new position. The secondary steel has not been changed
apart from new position. Redesign secondary steel if needed.

F) Add stoppers
F1) Start VOF Primary Pipe Supports MPG menu

F2) Click on Primary Support Hanger

F3) Press on [CE]

F4) Press [Stopper Manipulation]

F5) Enter the number of stoppers on each side

F6) Press [Add]

F7) Choose type of Stopper

F8) Press [OK]

Stoppers are added to the primary support

G) Adjust Luggs
G1) Start VOF Primary Pipe Supports MPG menu

G2) Click on Primary Support Hanger

G3) Press on [CE]

G4) Press [Lug Manipulation]

G5) Adjust distance and press [Enter]

Lugs are adjusted.

H) Change Support origo, Datum point

One of the primary supports acts as origo for the support drawing, datum point. To change to
another primary support, take the following steps:

H1) Start VOF Primary Pipe Supports MPG menu

H2) Click on Primary Support Hanger

H3) Press on [CE]

H4) Press [Update datum primary]

H5) Press [Yes]

H6) Click on new primary support

Datum point is updated

VofSupp Draft
Generate primary and secondary supports drawing

Instruction

1) Start the tool from Valmet Main menu

2) Open Draft Design Explorer and choose support

3) Press [Add]

4) Pres [Regi] and choose Support Drawing Registry

4.1) Everyone: Can use UHL Isom checkbox, set universal hidden lines on iso view

5) Press [Generate]
