Spelling Contract

Each week for spelling homework, I am responsible for completing a
spelling contract. I need to do 5 different activities for all of my words
on my list. I will turn in all of my completed work, along with the
Spelling Contract, on the day of the test. If I turn it in late, points will
be taken off. The points I earn go toward my spelling grade.
*As you complete the activity highlight it on the contract. Please turn
in all completed work with the contract.
ABC Order- Write your words in alphabetical order
Story words- Write a story using 10 of your spelling words. Underline
each of the spelling words used. Remember to use good writing!
Scrambled words- Write your words with the letters mixed up. Then
create an answer sheet.
Word search- Make a word search with all of your words
Ransom words -Write 10 of your words by cutting out letters in a
newspaper or magazine and glue them on paper.
Pyramid words- Write your words by adding or subtracting one letter
at a time. The result will be a pyramid shape of words.
Color my word-Write the words using a different color for each word
Fancy words- Write each word in cursive three times.
Funny words- Draw a comic strip using at least eight of your words in
the conversation bubbles. Make a list of all unused spelling words at
the end of your comic.
Dictionary words- Use a dictionary and write the guide words for each
of your spelling words in parenthesis, after each spelling word.
Vowels & Consonants-Write your spelling words in crayon or pen. Write
each consonant letter in blue and each vowel in red.
Vocabulary- Write 5 of your spelling words into your vocabulary journal
Typing- Type the words 3 times each
Sentences- Use each of your spelling words in a meaningful sentence.
Underline your spelling words.
Figurative Language- Create 5 figurative language sentences using
your spelling words(simile, metaphor, idiom, hyperbole etc.)
Word Cloud- Create a word cloud, using a website like ABCYA with all
your spelling words
Across & Down- Write each spelling word across and then down
starting with the first letter
Create an activity- Can you think of a fun way to do your spelling
activities? Try it out! Discuss your idea with your teacher prior to
doing it.
