PROVERBS 2:6

For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come

knowledge and understanding;

LUKE 4:4

And Jesus answered him, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live
by bread alone.’”

LUKE 2:11

"For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior,
who is Christ the Lord."

TERM 1
Tyger Tyger, burning bright, THE TYGER
In the forests of the night; BY WILLIAM BLAKE
What immortal hand or eye,
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

In what distant deeps or skies.

Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand, dare seize the fire?

And what shoulder, & what art,

Could twist the sinews of thy heart?
And when thy heart began to beat.
What dread hand? & what dread feet?

What the hammer? what the chain,

In what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil? what dread grasp.
Dare its deadly terrors clasp?

When the stars threw down their spears

And water'd heaven with their tears:
Did he smile his work to see?
Did he who made the Lamb make thee?

Tyger Tyger burning bright,

In the forests of the night:
What immortal hand or eye,
Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?

TERM 1
ETERNITY
BY WILLIAM BLAKE

He who binds to himself a joy

Does the winged life destroy
He who kisses the joy as it flies
Lives in eternity's sunrise

TERM 1
LUKE 7:16

Fear seized them all, and they glorified God, saying, “A

great prophet has arisen among us!” and “God has visited
his people!”

LUKE 10:2

And he said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the

laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of
the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.

2 THESSALONIANS 3:3

But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard

you against the evil one.

TERM 2
EXODUS 20:1-17

1 And God spoke all these words, saying,

2 “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt,
out of the house of slavery.
3 “You shall have no other gods before me.
4 “You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of
anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or
that is in the water under the earth.
5 You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the Lord your
God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the
children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me,
6 but showing steadfast love to thousands of those who love me and
keep my commandments.
7 “You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the
Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain.
8 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9 Six days you shall labor, and do all your work,
10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you
shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male
servant, or your female servant, or your livestock, or the sojourner
who is within your gates.
11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all
that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord
blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.
12 “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in
the land that the Lord your God is giving you.
13 “You shall not murder.
14 “You shall not commit adultery.
15 “You shall not steal.
16 “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
17 “You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your
neighbor's wife, or his male servant, or his female servant, or his ox,
or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor's.”
TERM 2
The roofs are shining from the rain. APRIL
BY SARA TEASDALE
The sparrows tritter as they fly,
And with a windy April grace
The little clouds go by.

Yet the back-yards are bare and brown

With only one unchanging tree—
I could not be so sure of Spring
Save that it sings in me.

Into my heart's treasury THE COIN

BY SARA TEASDALE
I slipped a coin
That time cannot take
Nor a thief purloin,—
Oh better than the minting
Of a gold-crowned king
Is the safe-kept memory
Of a lovely thing.

TERM 2
LUKE 21:33

Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not
pass away.

DEUTERONOMY 31:6

Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of

them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He
will not leave you or forsake you.”

JEREMIAH 29:11

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord,
plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future
and a hope.

TERM 3
JUNE:
A CALENDAR OF SONNETS
BY HELEN HUNT JACKSON

O month whose promise and fulfilment blend,

And burst in one! it seems the earth can store
In all her roomy house no treasure more;
Of all her wealth no farthing have to spend
On fruit, when once this stintless flowering end.
And yet no tiniest flower shall fall before
It hath made ready at its hidden core
Its tithe of seed, which we may count and tend
Till harvest. Joy of blossomed love, for thee
Seems it no fairer thing can yet have birth?
No room is left for deeper ecstasy?
Watch well if seeds grow strong, to scatter free
Germs for thy future summers on the earth.
A joy which is but joy soon comes to dearth.

TERM 3
CHANCE
BY HELEN HUNT JACKSON

These things wondering I saw beneath the sun:

That never yet the race was to the swift,
The fight unto the mightiest to lift,
Nor favors unto men whose skill had done
Great works, nor riches ever unto one
Wise man of understanding. All is drift
Of time and chance, and none may stay or sift
Or know the end of that which is begun.
Who waits until the wind shall silent keep,
Will never find the ready hour to sow.
Who watcheth clouds will have no time to reap.
At daydawn plant thy seed, and be not slow
At night. God doth not slumber take nor sleep:
Which seed shall prosper thou shalt never know.
