2. Detail of investigation
(1) When the high-pressure pipe connected to the Repaired

removed
and the engine was cranked, foreign matter,
such as metal pieces, were found in the pipe.

(2) When the gauze filter in the supply pump was


removed, the mesh section was damaged.

(3) When an internal part of the supply pump was


judged defective and the pump was replaced,
the engine could be started.

The supply pump uses the turning force of the engine to pressurize and send fuel to the
common rail. The supply pump is equipped with SCV, fuel temperature sensor and feed
pump.
[2] SCV (Suction control valve)
The SCV is installed on the supply pump section to control fuel supply (suction amount)
to the common rail. The ECM controls energization time to SCV and fuel discharge quantity.
