TOPIC 7:SOME PEOPLE BELIEVE THAT CHILDREN SHOULD STUDY ALL SUBJECTS AT SCHOOL,WHILE

OTHERS THINK THEY SHOULD ONLY STUDY SUBJECTS THAT THEY ARE GOOD AT OR FIND
INTERESTING.DISCUSS BOTH VIEW AND GIVE YOUR OPINION.
A host of folks think that students should be taught all subjects at school, while the rest believe
that studying only subjects that they are keen on or great at is much better. From my subjective
perspective,I think that both of the studying strategies mentioned above have its own advantages.
On the one hand, studying only a few subjects that they are interested in can bring several
benefits.First of all, they are given much more time to develop their niche. They will have more time to
concentrate on their best fields and also receive more support from professional teachers at that
subjects. Therefore, they will more likely to become better and better at their favorite subjects and
become a professor in the future because they have a specific target to strive for.As a result, they can
give a hand to create innovative and modern products or technologies.
Furthermore,no one is perfect and forcing someone to learn somethings that they are terrible
at or find boring is extremely useless.Albert Einstein once said that “If you judge a fish by its ability to
climb a tree,it will live its whole life believing it is stupid” and that is also why we should let students
choose whatever they want to learn because it is always more effective than learning by rote and
then understanding nothing.
On the other hand, learning every subject is a great chance for children to gain knowledge in
different fields and that brings them numerous advantages.Firstly, they can develop every skills, which
are very necessary for their future,at school.Every subject at school has its own purpose and that’s
why it is chosen to be a part of the national educational system. For example,Maths and Science are
used to improve students’ logical thinking while English and Literature are designed to develop their
emotions and ethnic. Therefore, students would be totally well-educated by trying their best at every
subject.
Besides, students also have better opportunities to adapt with changes if they have lexical
knowledge in different themes because they are good at some subjects and have basic and important
information about every subject. It’s necessary to have several niches not only one because “life is
never a straight line, there are also many crossroads and these crossroads decide whether you are
successful or not”,according to James Cameron. As a result, students who tried their best at every
subject will not only become more employable in their future work life due they are versatile but also
be able to balance their life in spite of critical changes. To sum up, I believe that students should study
all subjects at school in order to fully prepare for their future, but they shouldn’t be forced to be
excellent at everything.
In conclusion, both studying only subjects that students are interested in and having an all-
round education have their own advantages to help students prepare for their future profession and
life.
