EXPERIMENT 1: ELECTRONICS POWER SUPPLIES
1. THE UNSTABILIZED POWER SUPPLY
AIM: To Design And Determine For The Unstabilized Experimental Electronics Bridge
Full Wave Power Supply Circuit, The Waveforms And Their Values With/Without The
Reservoir Capacitor C1.
THEORY:
REQUIREMENTS: 1. COMPONENTS – 1 Fixed Resistor , 1 Fixed Capacitor , 1 12V
Transformer, 4 Rectifier Diodes 1N4001, 1 SPST Switch
EQUIPMENT: 1 Digital Multimeter, 1 Oscilloscope
MISCELLANEOUS: 1 Breadboard, Set of Connecting Wires & Circuit Diagram of Fig. 1.
FIG.1: Fixed Unstabilized DC Power Supply With Shunt Reservoir Smoothing Capacitor
PROCEDURE: 1. Collect The Components and Equipment Supplied You.
2. On the breadboard, Construct the electronics power supply shown in fig 1, and ask for
the laboratory supervisor to check and approve your constructed circuit.
3. Connect the circuit to the mains 240V outlet and measure, with the digital multimeter,
the following voltages;
i) The transformer input
ii) the transformer output
iii) the voltage across the load with C1 connected and disconnected
