Background Information for Learners


I. Bank Deposit Slip
It is a form given by the bank to be filled out by the client before depositing money into his or
her bank account. A deposit slip contains the date, the name of the depositor, the account
number, and the amount being deposited. The purpose for the bank deposit slip is to
document each deposit transaction of the client. Below are the parts of a bank deposit slip.
Deposit slips vary from bank to bank.

II. Bank Withdrawal Slip


It is a form given by the bank to be filled-out by the client before getting money from his or
her bank account. A withdrawal slip contains the date, the name of the account owner, the
account number, and the desired amount to be withdrawn.
The purpose for the bank withdrawal slip is to instruct the bank to withdraw funds or a certain
amount from your account. Withdrawal slips vary from bank to bank.

Directions: Complete the Sample Bank Deposit and Withdrawal Slip based on the situation
given.

Background Information for Learners


A sentence is also called a clause.
A clause is a group of words that contains both a subject (noun or pronoun) and a predicate
(or a verb).
An independent clause can stand by itself as a complete sentence. The independent
clauses are connected by conjunctions to form a compound sentence.
A compound sentence is made up of two or more independent clauses connected by the
coordinating conjunctions (FANBOYS) for, and, nor, but, or, yet and so.
Sometimes a semicolon (;) is used as a conjunction to replace and. The first word of the
second independent clause is then written with a small letter. If that word is a proper noun,
there is no need to change its beginning letter.

Background Information for Learners


Subject-Verb Agreement portrays particular rules in terms of agreement between the
subject and the verb. The subject and verb of the sentence must agree in number.
If the subject is plural, then the verb must be in its simple form. If the subject is
singular, then the verb must be in its –s form. Always remember, the subject must
always agree with the verb, thus, agreement.
The subject and verb must agree with each other in number. Perhaps the most important
thing for you to know is that singular verbs end with -s with the exception of I am and
you are (second person singular). If the subject is plural in number, it takes the simple
form of the verb.

Background Information for Learners


KINDS OF ADJECTIVES
1. Descriptive adjectives tell us about the kind or quality of a noun for example.
2. Demonstrative adjectives point out nouns. They are always followed by the nouns
which they point out.
3. Possessive adjectives show possession. They are always followed by a noun. A
possessive adjective, also called a possessive determiner, expresses possession of
a noun by someone or something by modifying the noun.
4. Interrogative adjective deals with question-like adjective that refer to a noun.
