About the College
The American College is known for its focus on academic
excellence and social relevance. The American College grew into a collegiate
department in 1881 at Pasumalai by the initiatives taken by
Rev.G.T.Washburn, the Founder-Principal of the college. It was one of the first
set of seven colleges to be made autonomous by the UGC in 1977-1978.
Today, the college offers thirty-two undergraduate, twenty-two Postgraduate
programmes and nine M.Phil programmes. There are nine research centres
offering Ph.D programmes in various disciplines.
About the Department
The Department of Psychology was established in 2017 and is affiliated
to Madurai Kamaraj University. The department is well equipped with state
of art classrooms, psychological laboratory and a well-equipped Iibrary.
The program offers exposure through field visits, research projects and hands
on experience which includes the theoretical concepts and bridge the gap
with practical and field visits in the domain of Psychology.

General Guidelines
The invitation extends to students belonging to the disciplines of Psychology and
other Social sciences.
Participants must arrive at college before 8:30 a.m.
A copy of the participants list must be signed by the Head of the
Department and should be sent to the following email address

A student can only participate in one event.
Participants are required to be respectful and disciplined throughout the
program and on campus.
The participants are expected to dress modestly.
It is mandatory to bring your ID card.
Participants are expected to bring the required materials for the events.
Participants are required to take care of their possessions.
Lunch will be provided to all participants and accompanying faculty.
All participants will receive participation certificates.
