Precautionary Measures Students will do the activity.

1.Don’t perform experiments without
instructor supervision unless given
permission to do.
2.Do not set equipment/materials too
close to the edge of the table.
4.Careful touching the wires, batteries
and bulbs.
5.Stay safe when doing the activity.

Steps

1. Connect the free end of each red and

white wire to the first light bulb holder.
2. Connect the free end of white wire to
the screw base of the first light bulb
holder.
3. Connect the free end red wire to the
screw base of the first light bulb holder.
4. Connect the other free end of last red
and white wire to the screw up in a bulb
holder.
5. Lastly, connect the white wire to the
negative (-) side of the battery and the red
wire to positive(+) side of the battery.

Guide Question
1. What happen when you unscrew the
first bulb? Explain
2. What do you think causes it to happen?
Explain

EXPLAIN The teacher will further explain the

activity.

1. What happen when you unscrew the

first bulb? Explain
-When you unscrew the first bulb in a
parallel circuit, only that specific bulb
will turn off, while the rest of the bulbs in
the circuit will remain lit. This is because
in a parallel circuit, each component (in
this case, each bulb) has its own separate
pathway to the power source. Therefore,
removing one bulb does not interrupt the
flow of electricity to the other bulbs.
Each bulb receives the same voltage as
the power source, and the circuit remains
unaffected by the removal of one bulb.

2. What do you think causes it to happen?

Explain
-In a parallel circuit, each component,
such as a bulb, has its own separate
branch connected to the power source
independently. When one bulb is
unscrewed, it creates an open circuit in its
branch, but the other branches remain
intact, allowing electricity to flow
unaffected. This independent pathway
ensures that each component receives the
full voltage of the power source. As a
result, only the unscrewed bulb is
affected, while the rest of the circuit
remains unaffected and continues to
function normally.

Do you have an questions or

clarifications class?

ELABORATE What is parallel circuit?

A parallel circuit is one that has two or

more paths for the electricity to flow, the
loads are parallel to each other.

Properties of Parallel Circuits:

 A similar potential differences gets

across all the resistance in parallel.
 The total current get’s distributed
into the number of paths equivalent
to the number of resistances in
parallel. The aggregate current is
always the summation of all the
individual currents.

How do parallel circuits contribute to

the efficient functioning of electrical
systems in various community
settings?
-Parallel circuits are significant in
communities because they provide
redundancy and reliability in electrical
systems, ensuring that if one component
fails, others can continue to operate. They
also allow for the operation of multiple
appliances simultaneously without
affecting each other's performance.
Additionally, parallel circuits make
troubleshooting and maintenance easier,
as individual components can be isolated
and tested without disrupting the entire
circuit.

EVALUATE Get ¼ sheet of paper. Answer the

following question by reading first the
directions. You only have 5 minutes to
answer.
Direction: Choose the letter of the
correct answer.
1. In a parallel circuit, each component is:
a.)Directly connected to the power source
b) Indirectly connected to the power
source
c) Connected serially to the power source
Answer: b. Indirectly connected to the
power source
2. What happens when one bulb is
unscrewed in a parallel circuit?
a) All bulbs turn off
b) Only the unscrewed bulb turns off
c) All bulbs dim
Answer: b. Only the unscrewed bulb
turns off
3. How are branches connected in a
parallel circuit?
a) In series
b) In parallel
c) In a loop
Answer: b. In parallel
4. What happens to the brightness of the
other bulbs in a parallel circuit when one
bulb is unscrewed?
a) They become brighter
b) They become dimmer
c) Their brightness remains the same
Answer:c) Their brightness remains the
same
5. Why does unscrewing one bulb in a
parallel circuit not affect the other bulbs?
a) Because the circuit becomes short-
circuited
b) Because each bulb has its own separate
branch
c) Because the voltage decreases
Answer:b) Because each bulb has its own
separate branch
Assignment:
List five examples of parallel circuits commonly found in your community.
