The text
Larbi Ben Mehidi was born in 1923 in Ain M'lila, Algeria, commonly
known as Si Larbi, he finished his studies in 1939, and he joined the Algerian
Muslim scouts, where he became a group leader within a short period of time.
During the French colonization, he had very important responsibilities in
the preparation to fight against the French forces. In August 1956, he became
the leader in Algiers; he led one of the most dangerous battles in the history of
Algeria which is the battle of Algiers. This man was a gift from God. He was
known for his intelligence, courage, honesty and purity. In 1957, Benmhidi was
arrested by the French authorities. The photo of his arrest was published in all
the newspapers in Algiers. The smile on his face while being arrested made a
tour around the world. On March 4th, 1957, he was killed by the French in El-
Harrach prison in Algiers but his memory is still alive among us.
Larbi is a real example of the Algerian brave man, he is an Algerian
hero because he is the man who smiles in troubles, gathers strength from
distress, and conquers the fear. We should be inspired by him. Larbi Ben Ben Mehidi arrested
Mehidi showed us that a human can be kind, gentle, smiley but strong and (1957)
proud at the same time.
