Subject: ldentification, documentation, preservation and promotion of
Heritage Sites and artifacts found in rural areas of Himachal
Pradesh.
Madam/Sir,
On the aforementioned subject, it is informed that Ministry of Panchayati
Raj, Govt. of India is in the process of identification, documentation, preservation
alolas and promotion of Heritage sites and artifacts found in rural areas of the States,
inclúding the State of Himachal Pradesh. MoPR. Gol has desired the information on
following 02 formats in this regard
i. Information under the "Meri Panchayat Meri Dharohar" and
i. Intormation under "Mera Gaon Meri Dhrohar.
The idea behind collecting the desired information on the aforementioned
formats is to make not only locals aware of the rich heritage existing in the rural
areas, in the form of ancient buildings, religious sites, inscriptions, ruins, pillars, mounds,
to initiate
ancient sculptures, caves, frescoes, water structures, stepwells, trees, etc,but alsSo
a thought process for taking appropriate measures for maintaining and preserving
our rich heritage. We may also think, plan and act by seizing this opportunity
and also monetize our heritage by showcasing it the best possible form, to the world
at large.
In our State, there are many heritage sites which are already recognized and
maintained by the Archeological Survey of India. Apart from these, there are
numerous sites, buildings, temples etc. which are more than a century old and have
rich historical and cultural legacy around them, many of which are unknown to the
world. Therefore. through this initiative, a window of opportunity has been opened,
which we must make. best possible use of.
Therefore, in order to collect, compile and document the desired information,
the following officers/ officials are entrusted the responsibilities at various levels as
stated hereunder

collecting the necessary information and preparing the necessary material, including
the audio visual material. The volunteers doing commendable job may also be
honored in the Gram Sabah meeting, in the manner the Gram Panchayats may
deem fit.
In view of the above, you are requested to kindly take personal interest
and take all the necessary measures, to ensure that all Gram Panchayats in your
respective Districts may send the necessary information on the desired formats
before 15th of February, 2025, so as to enable us to not only supply the necessary
information to Govt. of India, but also devise a sound strategy to utilize the
information for the best use for the interest of Panchayats and the State.
Your proactive lead in this initiative would be highly appreciated.
