Purpose: Excursion is an essential part to complete Botanical study.
The conception obtained through text books get matured and full form
by studying nature in-situ. Knowledge can also be obtained about the
geographical distribution of different types of plants, their proper habit,
influence on surrounding environment. In the syllabus of practical
papers, Marks have also been allotted for collection of specimens from
fields after proper observation and studies.

   7. Title of the Field Work/ Project Work: Socio-Economic Survey of
      LebongMouza (Darjeeling District) W.B.
   8. Paper Title: SHGEO/602/C-14P: Research Methodology and Field Work
   9. Objectives:The main objectives of this fieldwork is to analyse the various
      socio-economics data available from the study area and application of
      various cartographic measures to understand the nature of problems.
   10.Methodology& Data Collection (2-3 Sentence): Different methods are
      applied for field study, like- Prefield Study is related with the data collection
      and to get informations of the study spots, like mouzamap, census report,
      climatic data, topographical map etc. Field study is related to door to door
      survey to collect different informations from the village people, intensive
      study of the visited area etc. Post field method is related to the analytical
      study of collected data from field study and different reports on soils taken
      from the laboratory which was collected from field.
   11. Major findings (4-5 Sentences):The queen of the hills is a Himalayan city in the
        Indian state of West Bengal. It is internationally renowned as a tourist destination for its
        spectacular view of Mt. Kanchandzonga, along with its tea industry and the Darjeeling
        Himalayan Railway, a UNESCO World Heritage site. One can have the view of entire
        Singalila Range along with Mt. Kanchandzonga, Bhutan Himalaya and a part of Everest
        range from Darjeeling. The eye caching valleys, meandering rivers and of course the lush
        green tea gardens are the unique features of Darjeeling. Beside all these the main
    attractions of this popular hill stations are Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (HMI),
    Himalayan Zoo, Tiger Hill, Rock Garden, Batasia Loop. Overall, Darjeeling district is a
    hub of tourism. The varied landscape, eternal weather, and the slopes with tea plantations
    make up most of tourism in Darjeeling. There is a variety in scenic attractions that
    tourists would come across here. It has a stronghold on the map of India for being a place
    having highest tea exports. Not only the city of Darjeeling, there has very small
    destinations like Lava, Lolegaon, Mirik etc. which are a good tourism destination.
12. Outcome (4-5 Sentence):Tourism is one of the important contributors to this regional
    economy generating incomes and employment for the local population. Everybody right
    from a chaiwalaupto the hotel owner benefits from the tourism. Apart from an increase in
    the income and the demand for local products, tourism also results in a multiplier effect.
    It is a growing sector and is growing relatively faster. But this sector is lacking behind in
    infrastructure and economic growth. But education can make a change in the scenario.
    The aroma and taste of Darjeeling tea has its own charm and mesmerizing effect that it is
    known as the champagne of the east. The uniqueness of the location makes it an ideal
    destination to enjoy the beauty of nature as well as process of tea gardening. Sustainable
    Rural Tourism will also help in the development of the socio-economic condition of the
    local community as well as contribute to the cause of sustainability of the unique eco-
    system. Diversification of the tourism into eco-tourism, adventure tourism, cultural
    tourism, religious tourism, nature tourism etc. is a welcome step.
13. Conclusions / Suggestion:Inequalities in welfare, health, and safety benefits
   of tea workers have been found among different categories of tea companies
   in the study.

   permission of the college authority.
15. Comments / Suggestions: The type of excursion / Educational tour is very
   helpful for the students to absorb the actual learning through practical
   experience.
