Life skills
Besides the practical benefits that sports bring to us in terms of health and social
skills, sport’s lessons also teach us a great deal about how to handle life’s challenges.
And that is also another advantage of playing sports that I want to introduce to
everyone today.
4.1 . Resilience:
In life as well as in sports, loss is inevitable. Just like if you want to become a
professional athlete, you will need to go through harsh trainings and challenges, you
have to endure physical and mental injuries to be able to go further on the path you
have chosen. And the challenges you encounter while competing in sports will be the
stepping stones to help you overcome disappointment and frustration, teach you
how to cope with unpleasant experiences, especially boost your perseverance
abilities, which can help in many areas of life.

4.2. Leadership development:

Leadership can be learned. Through playing sports, to be achieve the best results, all
the players in one team need to have empathy, the ability to listen, awareness of
others’ strengths, positive encouragement, methodical planning in the pursuit of
goals. Therefore, we can't deny that, sports create opportunities for us to practice
qualities that a good leader needs to have.

4.3. Example:
“I’ve missed over 9000 shots in my career, I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times I’ve been
trusted to take the game’s winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over & over & over again in
my life. And that is why I succeed.”
That is the mindset of Michael Jordan, who was well known for his superior
athleticism on the court and for his leadership abilities and is widely considered to be
the greatest basketball player of all time. During playing this sports, he encountered
many difficulties, but with determination and effort, he made 11 All-NBA teams, won
5 MVPs, 6 Finals MVPs and 6 NBA titles and crafted a legendary legacy.

In short, by playing sports, we become equipped to progress and empowered to take

on challenges in every facet of our lives. And from that we learn many life skills.
