CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION

In recent times, children play with plastic toys that are unhygienic and also now not also, people

using plastic merchandise like jugs, water bottles, glasses and many other which isn't always exact

for fitness and after few days these merchandises are transformed into terrible/spoiled/scrap fabric.

So, we are able to use the clay products as substitution of plastic merchandise that is hygienic and

re-useable. Clay utensils almost preserves all of the micro vitamin’s gift within the food like rice

and pulses while modern-day utensils like plastic are not able to keep maximum of the micro

nutrients instead plastic add some risks to the food. Most significantly the clay utensils have a

wonderful impact on immunity. Now our clay potters who're now nearly outmoded we are able to

think about them for making clay merchandise. Tea stallers are also using plastic cup or paper cups

both are very dangerous for human health and those plastic cups are not suitable for surroundings,

different hand, for these paper cups so many bushes additionally destroyed which make horrific

impact on our surroundings additionally. Clay is an element this is certainly to be had from the

earth. Clay has an inclination to behave like plastic as it hardens whilst baked or dried. India has a

greatest way of life of making clay toys or merchandise to over 5,000 years. Now-a-days clay

products market also growing globally. Pottery instructions within the city were seen a sharp rise

in demand for classes on earthenware cooking. Pottery as an art and craft one of the maximum

undying residing craft traditions of India. On the basis above information, I am representing my

project on “CLAY PRODUCTS”.

CHAPTER 3

PROBLEM SUMMARY

PROBLEMS OF DEVELOPMENT

Pottery industry of the study area is suffering from numerous problems. The problems are not

only numerous but also diverse in character. Though some of the problems are very crucial

and unless they are solved with appropriate measures, the industry is bound to limp.

PROBLEMS RELATED WITH RAW MATERIAL

Irregular supply of raw material is one of the major constraints for the development of pottery

industry. At times the irregular of the required quality and quantity of the raw materials affect

the quality and size of the output of industrial units. Because of their smallness and weak

financial base and poor bargaining power the artisans utilize the services of middlemen to get

raw materials on credit. Such an arrangement results in higher costs due to the high margins

of the middlemen. Moreover, irregular supply of certain raw materials adversely affects their

production schedules and delays in delivery.

PAUCITY OF WORKING CAPITAL

Paucity of working capital is another main problem of pottery sector. Because of the lack of

adequate working capital, potters are not in a position to buy the raw material of required

quantity. The low investment causes low production and in turn low production. A good

number of units are operating below their capacity due to shortage of working capital. Due to

the paucity of funds, at times the potters opt for less remunerative jobs or resort to even daily

wage earning.

COMPETITION FROM THE ORGANIZED SECTOR

At this age of globalization, cheap machine made goods have captured the market of goods

produced by household industrial sectors. Cheap plastic articles from the highly mechanized

sector introduced unhealthy competition to the detriment of decentralized production of

6
articles by Pottery sector. In such situations, the aspect like cheapness of the synthetic plastic

goods of the organized sector emerged as the strongest competitor of the unorganized

household industrial sector.

LACK OF RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT EFFORTS

Adequate research and development efforts are needed to increase the output or find out the

higher value alternative items for many of the products. Due to lack of this, pottery industry

of the study area could not develop in spite of their potentiality.

PROBLEMS ASSOCIATED WITH MARKETING MECHANISM

A good market for the products of pottery industry is important to promote the well-being of

the artisans or small entrepreneurs. But marketing in this field has certain limitations. Firstly,

due to the absence of any co-operative marketing organizations or government agency in

sufficiently large numbers in most of the unit, selling of the finished products through

middlemen has been a dominant feature. Secondly, the demand for the various products of

these industries is largely seasonal and limited to the locality as majority of their products are

substandard and do not conform to the required specifications. Thirdly, the competition from

the mills as well as inter unit competition is keen. Thus, in the absence of any rational

marketing organization, the workers of various household industries are forced to sell the

products to the local traders or middlemen who manage to get away with the major part of the

profit.

PROBLEMS OF MANAGEMENT

In an overwhelming majority of the units surveyed, the artisan is both an entrepreneur and

laborer. They raise their own finance, purchase the raw materials and attend to production,

marketing and controlling laborers. The chief management problems, therefore, are those of
7
planning, coordinating and controlling the various activities, which increase the competitive

efficiency of the small producer.

8
CHAPTER 4

DESCRIPTION OF NEW PRODUCT

One exciting new product could be a set of handcrafted clay planters. These planters would

be designed to add a touch of natural beauty to any space, whether it's a home, office, or

garden.

The clay planters would come in various shapes and sizes, allowing for versatility in plant

selection. They could be adorned with intricate patterns, textured surfaces, or even hand-

painted designs to add a unique and artistic flair.

These planters would not only serve as functional containers for plants but also as decorative

pieces that enhance the overall aesthetic of the environment. They would be carefully crafted

with attention to detail, ensuring durability and longevity.

The use of clay in the production of these planters would provide a natural and organic feel,

connecting people with nature and promoting a sense of tranquility. The porous nature of clay

would also allow for proper drainage, promoting healthy plant growth.

Overall, these handcrafted clay planters would be a beautiful addition to any space, bringing

together artistry, functionality, and a connection to nature.

9
CHAPTER 5

METHODOLOGY

The program has a supply of customized customer orders with their contact details, grading details,

special services, service codes, and application price. After the order is placed, an order confirmation

report will be sent to the client for review. Once all orders are placed, the remaining sales report will

be generated.

As getting the information from various research papers and other sources we analysis that many

peoples want to buy a Clay Products and they directly concerned to nursery but sometimes people

doesn't know specific information about particular clay items as well seller is not technically skilled

and the clay product are available in a very limited amount of numbers. Customer doesn't compare

product’s pricing with different potters as well as in market there is no facility for online payment

only cash may consumed.

So, in this case “E-CLAY” is the platform where customer can compare product’s pricing and make

online payment easily. Customer service is extremely important. We want each customer to have a

pleasant shopping experience, and it is the intention of our staff to answer questions with expertise

and to offer advice when we feel it is needed.

CHAPTER 6

COMMERCIAL ASPECT AND FEASIBLITY

When it comes to the commercial aspect and feasibility of a clay product project, there are a few

things to consider.

1. Market demand: It's important to assess the demand for clay products in the market.

Researching the target audience, competition, and potential customer base can help determine if

there is a viable market for your clay products.

2. Production costs: Analyzing the costs associated with producing clay products is crucial.

Consider factors like raw material costs, labor, equipment, packaging, and transportation. This

will help you determine the feasibility of the project and set appropriate pricing for your products.

3. Profit margins: Understanding the potential profit margins is essential for the commercial

aspect of the project. Calculate the selling price of your clay products based on production costs

and market demand to ensure profitability.

4. Marketing and distribution: Developing effective marketing strategies and establishing

distribution channels are key to the success of any commercial project. Consider how you plan to

promote your clay products and reach your target customers.

5. Long-term sustainability: Evaluate the long-term sustainability of the project by considering

factors such as market trends, evolving consumer preferences, and potential challenges in the clay

product industry.

By carefully assessing these aspects and conducting thorough market research, you can gain

insights into the commercial viability and feasibility of your clay product project.

14
TARGET MARKET

Target market is the end consumer to which the company wants to sell its end products too.

Target marketing involves breaking down the entire market into various segments and planning

marketing strategies accordingly for each segment to increase the market share.

15
Target Markets

The market can be segmented into two different groups:

People that are purchasing the pottery for other people.

This segment is looking for a gift for someone and they are looking for something that is unique,

something that stands out relative to most other dishware. This segment, more often than not, will be

purchasing from the production line of dishware.

People that are buying pottery for themselves.

Some people have a very specific idea/style in mind. These people are more likely to opt for a

custom design. This can be expected because the custom work is more expensive and typically more

unique, for these reasons it is intuitive to expect that the more unique design, the more likely that the

person is buying the product for themselves.

Positioning

E-CLAYS will position themselves as the premier artist concentrating on ceramic dishware. E-

CLAYS low production line and custom design work will be attractive to a wide range of people

who appreciate functional art. E-CLAYS will leverage their competitive edge to increase their

customer base and reinforce the E-CLAYS brand.

companies with blogs attract an average of 67% more leads every month when compared

to companies who don’t. A blog is a great way to gain followers for your online business.

These followers can then be used to market content. Also, blogs are relatively easy to

create. You can use social media platforms or even a website or webpage to develop and

operate an online blog. Keep in mind that, for your blog to be successful, you need to

optimize it to rank well on Google. Also, make sure the topics you are addressing fit your

target audience doubts.

17
4. Having A Social Media Presence

As mentioned earlier, a blog can also be operated or at least propagated through online social

media networks. Being consistent with social media is vital when it comes to gaining a larger

online presence. The more you engage your target audience, the more loyal they will be, and the

more your followers will grow as well. The payoffs of having a good social media presence are

huge. All of your followers have the potential to become paying customers. By increasing your

social media presence, you are indirectly growing your online business as well.

5. Invest in Video Marketing

One of the most efficient ways to successfully grow your online business is through video

marketing. Customers respond much quicker after watching a video advertisement than

with any other kind of advertisement. In fact, a whopping 64% of customers are likely to

respond after watching a branded video ad. It is also estimated that entrepreneurs grow

49% faster with video advertisements than without. Video marketing is an efficient and

effective Digital Marketing strategy mostly done through platforms such as YouTube and

webinars.

about two billion users who watch videos of varying lengths on YouTube. So as is obvious, the

website is one of the most popular platforms with numerous users. By having a channel and

posting on it frequently, you can reach many more people than through any other medium.

As they get featured on our app, many people visit their outlet through app.”

Focus on the customer segment like

• Demographic (age, gender and income)

• Psychohaphics (Attitude, lifestyle, perception, motive)

➢ Sales Strategy

The sales strategy will be based on communicating that owning your own production, or custom,

dishware is a source of pride and appreciation by you as well as your guests. Dishware is

something that you use, typically two times a day. It is something that you are always looking at.

It is also something that can add to the presentation of the food. Lastly, if properly cared for, the

dishware is a long-term investment because it is quite durable and the designs can be timeless.

The other element that will be emphasized when trying to turn a prospective customer into a sale

is the cooperative process that involves the customer in the creation of their dishware.

31
➢ Sales Forecast

The first month of business will be used to set up the design of the website. There will be a bit of

business occurring in month two with a steady increase by month five.

FINANCIAL PLAN

For “E-CLAYS”, the cash flow statement, profit and loss account, and balance sheet have been

built using forecasted information which is as accurate and realistic as possible. On a predictive

estimation download for our app would increase gradually over the 2 years showing the positive

trend for us. And thus, we anticipate generating a sufficient customer base that will allow us to

maintain healthy cash balances starting from the first year of operations.

Firstly, as a start-up, we will take loan of 6,00,000 Rs from a reliable bank, also providing us the

amount at a cheaper interest rate.

COST INCURRED AMOUNT INVOLVED (approx.)

Development of application Around 2,00,000

Interest Rate 12% (72,000)

Legal Formalities Rs 15,000

Networking and Payment of Vendors 70 % of the entire order made

Aggregator Model Around 200,000

Table 1: Structure of cost to be Incurred

Talking in respect of performance, business might meet some difficulties in the beginning months

but after that the business grows as expected and produces a small profit at the end of the year. It

is not necessary for the business to gain high profit in the first year. It is not necessary for the

business to gain high profit in the first year. Nevertheless, we are expecting to make a small profit

34
the first year. Our second- and third- year net profits are expected to grow quite a bit. If the business

does better than usual, than the loan term will be further shortened. The motive here is to pay off

the loan as soon as possible to reduce cost of interest paid on the loan.

• Break Even Point

When the business will start earning profit that will be the breakeven point. The estimated break-

even point must come approximately, after one year.

Break- even period analysis (on a precise ground)- Nearly in 2.5 years we reached to break – even

point.
