темою «Food»
Grade: 4
Objectives:
 To sum up the vocabulary on topic “Food”
 To develop speaking, reading and listening skills.

By the end of the lesson students will be able to:


- lay the table properly;
- use some/any;
- use many/much;
- answer factual questions about food in Britain and Ukraine;
- work in a group to find a correct answer;

Timing: 45 min
Procedure:

T: Good morning, boys and girls! Today we are going to have a quiz-lesson. I
want to play a game with you. I will name some food words, you should stand up,
rub your tummies and say «Yum-yum» if you like eating this/these.

Bread soup eggs tomatoes biscuits butter cereal juice rice strawberries

Task 1
T: Great! I wish you good luck. And the first task is called «What am I?»
a) I am cold and sweet. Children like eating me. (an ice cream)
b) I am big and round. I am red and I have got green skin. (a watermelon)
c) I may be made of fruit and vegetables. Everyone likes drinking me when it
is hot. (juice)
d) I live in the rivers, seas and oceans. I can swim. (fish)
e) I am yellow. I am made of milk. People like eating me with bread or toast
for breakfast. (butter)
f) I am long and orange. I have got green beautiful hair. I am good for your
eyesight. (carrots)
g) I am so yummy. All people eat me on their birthday. (a cake)
h) I may be black or green. Some people like drinking me with lemon, some
with milk. (tea)
T: After the first round the score is: «Varenyky» … points and «Holubtsi»…
points.

T: This time you should find the mistake in each sentence and correct it.

Task 3
T: The third task is called «Setting the table». Do you help your mum to lay the
table? If you have a special dinner, a birthday party, for example, you should know
how to lay the table on such an occasion.
(both team are given a paper plate, a spoon, a fork, a knife and a glass and 10 sec
to put items properly)

Task 4
T: I know you like to watch videos. So the fourth task is called «Bob around
Britain». You should make the dialogues.
Good evening, sir. Are you ready to order?
Yes, I'd like the vegetable soup to start with.
And for the main course?
I'd like the chicken curry and rice, please.
What would you like to drink?
A glass of cola, please?
Thank you, sir.
T: Well-done.

Musical pause
T: Now we are going to have a little rest. Lets listen to the song “Bananas” and try
to copy the actions.

Task 5
T: The fifth round is called «Food on holidays». And this time you should
complete my sentences.
1. On Halloween people make lanterns from... .(pumpkins)

3. On Christmas Eve the Ukrainians eat 12 symbolic dishes. They are meat-
