Scene1: A traditional house(present day)
-the film opens with a wide shot of an old, traditional Filipino house-nipa hut(bahay
kubo). the sound of birds chirping and a distant rooster crowing fill the air. The house
looks aged but well-kept. Inside, we see Lola Maria sitting in a chair, looking out of
the door. Lolo Andres chopping woods. The room is filled with photos of the past,
including an old family portrait.
(lola maria looking at lolo andres, smiling warmly)
Lola Maria:(spoke softly) Andres, tanda mo pa ba sito una nga kabataan pa kit?
Lolo Andres: (smiles) Oo gad, Maria. Pano ko iton makakalimtan? Siton na mga
panahon an at paghigugma simple la ngan pirme ta gin tatagamnan. Ginharana tapa
ngani ikaw sadto (lolo andres said in a joke way).
(lola maria smiles again)
Scene2: Flasback to youth
-the film shifts to a flashback in balck-in-white, showing a younger Lolo Andres and
Lola Maria in their 20s. Lolo Andres is serenading lola maria looking towards the
window where lola maria is located. The scene is quiet except for the strumming of
the guitar.
Person1: himoa na Andres, ayaw na ka alo kan Maria bangin mawara pa iton(said in a
joke way)
(Lolo Andres looking shy at Lola Maria)
Lolo Andres: (singing softly) “huwag mong gawing biro ang puso ko”
Lola Maria: (watching lolo Andres) Maupay nga gabe saim Andres ngan saim upod
(chukling)
Lola Maria: Tara Andres, sulod kam!!!
Person2(mother of lola maria): Maupay nga gabe sin na mga ulitawo, nano man iyo
tuyo san ako daraga nga si maria?
(Nag mano sin na scene si lolo andres sa mother ni lola maria hahahahahaha sht)
Lolo Andres: Maupay man po na gabe, adi po ak para igpaimod an ako paghigugma
kan Maria.
Person2(Mother of lola maria): Tara mangaon muna kit!!!
-the scene transitions to them eating traditional food like (miski nala nano na available
basta traditional hahahaha)
Scene3: Return to the present
-the film returns to the present, where Beth and his 2 younger sister are sitting near
their grandparents, clearly distracted by their phones. The noise of notifications is
noticeable.
(Lola Maria and Lolo Andres looking at her granddaugthers)
Beth: (looks at grandparents) Lola, Lolo, why do you always talk about the past?
Hindi niyo ba naisip na makabago na tayo? Now we have all these new gadgets and
the internet!!
Granddaugther1: yes nga po Lola and Lolo
Lola Maria: (smiling softly) pero beth, dire tanan na nasa past kailangan kalimtan.
May mga bagay…pareho nala sa tradisyon….mao iton an nag shape saam kon nano
kit yana.
(Lolo andres chimes in, looking at his granddaughter with a smile)
Lolo Andres: Aram mo beth, dati wara kami sun na cellphone ngan ito….internet.
Pero yaon kami iristorya. Yaon kami harana…pati pagkaon na pinagsasaruhan saam
bug os na pamilya. Dire namo kinahanglan an gadgets para magkairistorya.
Daugther: ( entering the scene) tama sira( sitting beside her daugthers). Parang gusto
ko nalang bumalik sa simple la na buhay….but the world now is different(pointing at
the gadgets na hawak ng kanyang mga daugthers hihihihihih).
Scene4: Family Meal( an content didi is like traditional vs modern)
-the family gathers around a table filled with both traditional dishes and modern fast
food. (something available na traditional ngan modern food) (sa grab kit mag order
char hahahahaha)
Lola Maria: (looking at the table) ini na mga putahi…naalala ko an bayanihan days
ngan kamayan kon ngain mangangaon kit sarabay.
(their granddaugthers looking at lola maria with confusion)
Lolo Andres: hayaan mo na yan Maria, kumain na tayo!!!
(Granddaugther2 kukuha na sana ng pagkain ng biglang pinigilan ni lola maria)
Lola Maria: Sandali apo!!! kailangan ta gihap mag ampo sa ginoo.
Beth: Why po Lola
Lolo Andres: para igpaimod an at pagpapasalamat sa ginhatag na blessing sa ginoo.
Granddaugther1: ganon po ba lolo!!!
( the family started praying, and after that they eat happily ever after hahahahahaha
auco naaaaaaaaaa)
Lola Maria: Lets keep this good manners alive.
Ana: wow naman Ma, napa english kapa tuloy ( said in a joke way)
(another scene nanaman)
Scene5: Keeping the good manners alive ( ig insert ta in)
-the next morning beth is sitting in the sofa waiting for her friends
(the door opens)
Beth: you’re here na pala guys!!!
Friend1: yes naman, ang early diba.
(after sa greetings diretso lumapit yung friends ni beth kay lolo andres at lola maria
para mag mano)
Friend2: mano po lola at lolo
Friend1: mano po
( ikinatuwa naman ito ni lolo andres at lola maria)
Lolo andres: buti naman, miski binago na ng teknolohiya ini na mga bata, maaram la
gihap mag hatag respeto saat diba maria. ( while holding lola maria’s hands and
smiling)
Lola maria: mao ngani, pati sa ira mga words ma respeto la gihap sira.
(1hr later)
Daugther: Mga bata, hali kayo mag meryenda!!
(looking at beth and her friends)
Beth: papunta na po mama.
(kumain sila ng masaya like yeeeeeeee)
-it was already late night when beth’s friends decided to go home.
Friend1: Aalis na po kami, paalam beth.
Lola Maria: Mag iingat kayo.
(Lolo Andres went towards beth)
Beth: bakit po lolo?
Lolo andres: mga maupay an imo sangkay, marunong mag bigay respeto sa mga
matatanda.
(beth smiles at lolo andres)
Scene6: Superstitions and Wisdom
-the conversation shifts to old superstitions. The family is gathered in the living
room. Lola maria shares her memories of her youth
Lola maria:(serious) aram ba niyo ma dati, hindi allowed ang mag walis sa gabe, sabi
ng aking inay na parang pinapaalis namin dun ang swerte.
Daugther: alam niyo ba parang walang kabuluhan ang mga paniniwalang
yan(laughing)….pero nakatulong yan ano to keep us connected.
Lolo andres: tama, minsan iton naam mga paniniwala naghahatag seguridad saak
pamilya, miski dire gud namo aram danay(laughs a little)
Beth: so hindi po ako mag w walis ngayon(joking)
Lola maria: apo, kung gusto mo ng swerte, mas mabuting makinig ka samin ng lolo
mo
Scene7: A lesson in tradition
-while talking about the superstitious beliefs the grandchildren, now more engaged,
ask about the past traditions.
Granddaughter1: Lolo can you tell us po about sa harana?!
Granddaughter2: NOOO, lolo will sing for us diba lolo?? (giggling)
(lolo andres gets his guitar from the shelf, cleaning the dust off)
Lola maria: ini im gitara na gin gamit sito gin harana moak, kantahan mo nga kami
(with her cheerful voice)
( lolo andres pick up the guitar, begins to strum, and start singing softly)
Lolo andres: (singing) “ ikaw ang aking mahal”
Beth: you know, may matututunan talaga tayo dito. The traditions….hindi lang sila
old stories or old songs, it’s a way of life. (looking at her sisters)
Granddaugther2: you’re right ate!!
Lola maria: tama, nag bago man a kalibutan, pero an tradisyon and values, respeto,
pagmamahal sa pamilya, dire iton makakalimtan.
Scene8: Going to church together.
-it was Sunday morning and the family decided to go to church together, along the
way lola maria saw her friends na pupunta din ng church. (dire tana butngan line basta
random nala ini didi na man uuya si lola maria mga friends niya)
Lola Maria: kabataan, laksi nakam kay matikang na an mesa
Lolo Andres: gwapo naba ak sini na polo( said jokingly while showing his polo and
fixing his hair)
(lola maria laughs)
-the family went to church together, lola maria saw a girl selling a sampaguita flower
and another girl selling a candle. (random nala kon sino an seller sa sampaguita and
candle)
Granddaugther1: lola let’s buy those lovely flowers!!
Granddaugther2: Lolo let’s buy a candle, tapos sindihan natin dun sa church!!
Beth: stop pulling lola and lolo, baka madapa pa kayo.
Daugther: hayaan mo na sila beth.
(tapos bumili na sila ng candle and sampaguita)
Lola maria and lolo andres: halika na kayo.
(they hold each other hands yieieieieie)
Scene9: closing scene
-the camera pans out the family sitting together in the church.
*in a world where technology races ahead, it’s easy to forget the simple, timeless
thing that grounds us- the songs, the stories, and the traditions that form the heart of
our culture. As we look to the future, may we never lose sight of the past that shaped
us. ( habang nag f fade an scene ini an igpapaimod sa last part)
