CONCEPT PAPER
Rationale
This study aims to explore participants' perceptions of how cooking classes influence their food
choices, cooking habits, and overall attitudes towards health. By capturing rich, in-depth narratives,
the study can provide a better understanding of the underlying mechanisms that make cooking classes
effective in promoting lasting dietary changes. Additionally, the study can offer recommendations for
improving cooking programs and tailoring them to address the specific needs and challenges faced by
different adult populations.
In summary, this qualitative study seeks to contribute to the broader field of public health by
shedding light on the role of cooking education in fostering healthier eating habits and potentially
offering a sustainable solution to diet-related health issues.
Theoretical framework
It's predicated on Health Belief Model (HBM), which examines how perceptions that adults have
about cooking ability and the advantages of healthy eating contribute to their potential to adopt
improved habits through cooking courses.
Social Cognitive Theory (SCT) is also employed to determine the ways in which adults acquire skills in
preparing healthy meals and build confidence in this area through observation and interactions with
peers in a helping setting.
Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) explains how adult attitudes, social norms, and perceived
behavioral control influence their intention to prepare and consume healthier food, thereby molding
their behavior change.
Conceptual framework
This research aims to understand how cooking classes can affect healthy eating among adults. The
central concept is that learning from cooking classes can positively affect food choices, food
preparation, and lifestyle. The conceptual framework serves to clarify the most important factors that
inform this research.

Research Questions
1. What motivates adults to participate in cooking classes, and how do these classes influence their
eating habits?
2. How do cooking classes impact adults' knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors towards healthy eating?
3. What specific skills or techniques learned in cooking classes do adults find most helpful in
promoting healthy eating habits?
Method
This qualitative investigation probes the utility of cooking classes in developing and sustaining healthy
eating habits in adults. Through a review of participants' experience, attitude, and behavior change,
the study intends to learn about the impact of hands-on culinary training on food choice. Through
observation and in-depth interview, the study aims to determine influential factors that lead to
sustainable healthy eating habits. The outcomes will give information on the influence of cooking
training on nutritional literacy, food handling skills, and general health. The research contributes to
the extensive literature on health education and changing behavior through experiential learning.
