1.) Define the following:
A) SCIENCE
Came from the Latin word “Scientia” meaning knowledge. An organized body of knowledge
attained using scientific method
B) TECHNOLOGY
-came from two Greek word: TEHCNE meaning art, craft, or skill. LOGOS meaning word,
speech, or utterance. The application of scientific knowledge to the practical aims of human life
-involves Tool and Devices, Procedures and Techniques.
C) SOCIETY
- Came from Latin word “Societas” meaning friend, ally or interaction between people.
- A Society is a group of individuals, which is characterized by common interest and may have
distinctive culture and institution.

The relationship between science, technology, and society is a continuous cycle that
affects each other. Science gives us the knowledge needed to create new technologies, which
make our lives better. Technology uses this scientific knowledge to develop useful tools and
systems. Society plays an important role by expressing its needs and challenges, which guide
scientists and inventors in their work. For instance, the need for cleaner energy because of
climate change pushes scientists to create new renewable energy technologies. As technology
changes how we live and interact, it also influences society. This ongoing connection shows how
each part supports and drives the others, making it important to understand this relationship for a
better future.
4. Compare the Natural world with a Manmade world (Science and Technology). Make a
simple sketch of the worlds. Describe and compare.
The natural world features elements like trees, birds, fish, clean water, fresh air, and
structures like the bahay kubo, which is traditionally made from natural materials. It represents
harmony and balance, showcasing the beauty and diversity of ecosystems that exist without
human intervention. In contrast, human-made structures include roads, buildings, malls,
airplanes, cars (like Lamborghinis), and solar panels. These creations reflect human creativity,
engineering skills, and technological advancements, designed to improve daily life and enhance
convenience.
The natural world is created by God or nature, existing independently of human
influence, while human-made structures are products of human intelligence and effort. Natural
elements provide essential resources for life, such as clean air and water, and support
biodiversity. Human-made structures serve specific purposes in improving our transportation,
shelter, commerce, and energy production. The natural world follows patterns that help
everything stay healthy and in balance. For example, plants grow, die, and decompose, returning
nutrients to the soil, which helps new plants grow. This cycle keeps nature sustainable. On the
other hand, human-made things like buildings and roads need constant care and resources, such
as water and materials. This ongoing need can create problems for the environment, like
pollution or resource depletion, making us worry about their impact on nature.

5. In which world would you like to live? Explain or support your answer.
Natural world
I would love to live in a world without the internet and vehicles. I believe that the
manmade world is designed to make life easier and cater to our wants. While it has some
advantages, it also has negative impacts on us and our planet. That’s the reason why our natural
world is slowly disappearing or being destroyed.
I believe that the natural world provides our basic needs for well-being. I prefer a
peaceful life where I can drink fresh water, breathe clean air, and hear birds singing instead of
noisy motorcycles. I want to have time to develop real communication with others rather than
being glued to my phone. How I wish we could bring back that kind of life!
